Meet Ronnie Shaw of Vessel in Carlsbad

Ronnie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My father started the first golf bag manufacturing plant in Taiwan, and I remember spending a lot of time in the factory growing up. Almost every summer I would go and help out at the plant. I went to school in Australia for Electrical Engineering, on the day of my graduation, my dad recruited me to work for him. I wished he had told me he wanted me to work for him before I went down the electrical engineering path.

In 2004, I started working full time with my dad. Fell in love with product creation and manufacturing. While working for him, I found my true passion for designing and creating products.

In 2007, my father gave me the opportunity to oversee his US facility plant located in Ontario, California. And in 2009 we saw an opportunity to move to Carlsbad; it was probably the best business decision we have ever made.

In 2012, I saw an opportunity to create custom, one of a kind golf bags and accessories for tour athletes and from that opportunity VESSEL was born. We created the first online golf bag customizer for fun and it just took off. Fast forward eight years later, we are making golf bags for more than 100 tour players and equally proud of the line up we created in the lifestyle/travel space.

We’re known for crafting high-quality performance luxury handbags, backpacks, travel gear, and golf bags.

We are most proud of the backpack program that we’ve had in place since day one: for each bag sold, we give a school backpack to a child in need.
