Roosevelt, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Sole Cobbler, Leather Repair and Foot Care Artisan is a passion of mine that was really passed down to me from my family. This business is rooted in family, culture, and Greater San Diego,
I’m born and raised in San Diego and have had an entrepreneurial spirit since I was in high school. The early beginnings of Sole Cobbler trace back to my grandmother who taught me sewing, and then me using my sewing skills to design custom shirts and jerseys for my friends.
Eventually what began as a basic skill evolved into its own business.
Flash forward to today with Sole Cobbler, I am using yet another traditional family skill passed down to me, that has brought so much value to customers, not only has Sole Cobbler become a recognized brand in San Diego, it is gaining recognition on a national scale.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Operating Sole Cobbler has been a humbling yet fulfilling experience both personally and professionally. It really tested my ability to remain consistent and provide a service that my customers would love and pay for.
Thankfully, my biggest struggle now is being able to keep up with demand.

Long ago, cobblers hammered nails and stitched threads to hold the parts of a shoe together. Some artisan’s still hold true to that traditional method, yet Roosevelt Williams III is among those who trust adhesives, modern machinery and nails when needed.
As a Master Cobbler, he is guided with artistic eyes, “I imagine what could be”. In advising clients, he assesses the wear and tear of shoes and accessories and makes recommendations that polish and delivers exceptional sole service tailored just for you.
For the last three generations, The Sole Cobbler’s attentiveness to perfection has propelled the business to a pioneering status in the cleaning and restoration of fine leatherwear and foot care craftsmanship. Recently, launching his first physical product, a technologically advanced foot softener that relieves soreness while softening callous areas. He’s thrilled that clients are raving about Rose Velvet Skin Softener and plans to keep innovating foot care both inside and outside your shoes.
Sole Cobbler is best known for are the red bottoms paint on the bottom of women’s heals, and the pink bottoms in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month every year.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I have always been described as charismatic with great leadership abilities. I think it was my charisma early on that has shaped both my professional career and how I connect with my customers.
To me, leading has always been easy because I understood the responsibility that came along with being in a leadership position.
Whether it was in sports, among my peers, or at work, I have always understood that with leadership comes the responsibility to always be of service to those you lead.
Even now as a husband and a father my leadership style are rooted in being of service to my family, with family being first above everything.
Being someone who enjoys uplifting those around them definitely helped me see that leading in love and faith first in myself, and then as an example to others, is my contribution to helping the world be a better place.
