Meet Roya Kalantari of Dream Resin World in Rancho Bernardo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roya Kalantari.

Roya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always loved art, especially painting and graphics. I started painting when I was five during the summer schools in Iran. Because of my passion for art and engineering, I pursued my education in Architecture. After graduation from my master’s program in the US and start working as a designer, I started fluid painting as a hobby for decreasing the stress of my life. At first, I was using Resin Epoxy as a topcoat on my pouring arts. After a while, I found out about Resin art through Instagram. The first job that I did with resin is wall art, which is matched by my Livingroom. After that, I created a set of coasters that match with that. There is a calmness in working with resin, which makes me calm and happy. So, I created different sets of cheese boards and coasters for three months, then I participated in my first Holiday market, which was a great experience and encouraged me to follow my dream.

In my point of view, success is doing something I like, be happy and make others happy. My vision for this business is to create a small world of my crafts in this vast world. It is possible to bring a small piece of dream resin world to each house and be a part of all feelings of happiness of people. Being a part of people’s happy time in their place is a big success for me.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am doing all these crafts and arts because I’m in love with it. Creating a brand and presenting it in social media is not just posts and stories on Instagram, it needs more knowledge in this area. I am a Ph.D. student in Business marketing. The combination of my background in Architecture and Art and the lessons that I am getting in Business school the road is going to be smoother. I want to do wall arts and crafts in bigger sizes, but because of the space limitations, it is not possible for me yet.

Please tell us about your art.
I am a resin Artist. I am using different color pallets to create unique sets for all tastes. I didn’t focus just on cheeseboards or wall arts; I combine my creativity with all materials and pieces to makes crafts.

I have a variety of crafts, trinkets, cheeseboards, containers, end tables, etc. one of my plans is to have exclusive sets for special events such as new year, mother’s day, valentine’s day, etc. the other thing is the price of my crafts. also, my pricing can be the competitive advantage of the business because I am trying to create the best quality with affordable price for everyone.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I think my proudest moment so far has been the first time that someone showed his interest in one of my arts and purchased my craft. That was one of the big happiness in a very interesting part of my life. I’d just come back to the US after a while, and I just started school again. That craft was one of the first arts I’ve done and I did it for me and it was so personal and created with all my feelings and emotions at that time. It was a big leap of faith. That whole experience was my proudest moment so far.
