Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Ashburn.
Ryan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always had a super creative and “wild” imagination. I took fascination in video production very early in life and started taking it seriously after graduating high school. I found myself drawn to directing and creating music-videos specifically after spending several hazy middle school weekends with my close friend, smoking lots of weed, and watching all of the most current, relevant music videos at the time.
It wasn’t long after that this friend and I started to discover our own talents and gifts. We began recording music, him on the mic and me acting as a producer/engineer. Together, we accomplished one unofficial EP titled “Somethin’ with Punks” and one music video to go with the release of that EP. It never hit a billboard chart or a top 100 of any sort but that only inspired me. It meant I had more work to do. From those days in middle school & several years on, I’ve been completely committed to producing the best content I possibly can when it comes to music videos. Whether the production is booked through our company 1998Film™ or with myself personally, my clients can always expect a new and improved product. Greater than other guys.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but of course, that’s expected. You’ll always deal with other creatives trying to knock your vision, but not everyone can read minds.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the 1998FILM story. Tell us more about your work.
I was brought in by Justice Cortez, the official creator of 1998Film™ to help build up a platform for this new wave of artists soon to rise. I direct production, shoot alongside Justice, and also take on editing when required. Our distinct vision sets us apart from everyone else.
