Meet Ryan Mills of Rowlbertos Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Mills.

Ryan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
From cold-calling to Director of Marketing, I’ve done almost all of it! Instead of waiting for promotions, I’ve always looked to create opportunities for growth by taking on additional tasks and responsibilities that provide added value to the team. While working for a legal firm in Downtown, I added a few notches to my resume and began diving into media buying and commercial ad placements.

Naturally attracted towards media and entertainment, my next career move would prove to be my best move. I joined forces with Production-House, Rowlbertos Media, where I started as a Media Sales Manager and now hold the title of Executive Producer. My journey has not only humbled me, but has allowed me to learn the inner-workings of various types of businesses.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been all but smooth. Let’s just say I’ve been a bit of an explorer on my career-path.

I once prided myself as a jack-of-all-trades, but quickly learned to become an ace-of-many. Most early challenges and obstacles sprouted from the lack of fulfillment and purpose within my previous roles. I’ve always been a stud when it comes to sales, but I started to question how we made the phone ring and who were these target audiences? I unveiled a genuine interest in digital marketing and how I can implement my passion of numbers and KPI’s from sales.

Through this journey, I’ve found out that I love operations, project management, and executive roles that keep me intrigued and engaged.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
There aren’t too many Emmy Award-Winning Production Houses from San Diego, right? (well…) Rowlbertos Media is a video agency with in-house creative, production and post- production. You may have seen our commercials on ESPN or are familiar with our client’s, like Taylor Guitars, but we hang our hat on producing content-rich creative video campaigns that drive results for our clients.

Within the crew, I wear a few hats. Some of my responsibilities fall into Sales & Marketing handling everything from managing our inbound marketing strategy to creating and presenting pitch decks. As an Executive Producer, I’m responsible for funding for projects, relationship

management, plus some general production responsibilities. In a nutshell, I connect people to make epic projects all awhile satisfying Rowlbertos Media’s bottom-line and effectively growing the company.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been a leader. “Ambitious” would be a great trait to describe me and that hasn’t changed. I’m still a kid at heart! Most of my days are filled with laughter and play, while maintaining focused and growing internally. Growing up in San Diego has provided unparalleled daily adventures, a diverse foundation, and a home for innovation.

I’m still close with friends I made in Elementary and Middle-School, and they’ll tell you that I am still the same ol’ “Ryan”.
