Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Taylor.
Ryan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At TYAN, our mission is to empower global issues throughout the world. We founded TYAN on the beaches of San Diego, inspired by the surfing world and working for a non-profit organization. Besides, we are committed to donating 3% of all profits to issues based on the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) each year.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainability Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth -all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a lot of fun getting to roll out the new brand personally. One of the main challenges has just been creating the brand community and generating brand awareness about who we are as a company and our values.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
Tyan was founded to tap into the creativity of creating a clothing brand and being able to give back to global issues when I was working for a non-profit. The company is a so-cal surfer and beach vibe clothing line that specializes in t-shirts, sweaters/hoodies, hats, board shorts, leggings, and swimwear. We are most proud that every year we will be able to directly know how many people are being helped from the 3% donation of the proceeds depending on the problem it is helping.
The main thing that sets us apart is the community of people that would represent the brand. People that don’t take life too seriously and genuinely care about improving the lives of people around them. The people are what make up the brand and will continue to grow the brand in the future.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think that the clothing industry is evolving significantly ever year. Younger generations are becoming more aware of where materials are made from and hearing about the impacts of fast fashion. I feel that the industry will have to adapt and also become more focused on re-using clothing and finding more sustainable materials to make clothes.
Pricing:
