Meet Rye Von

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rye Von.

Hi Rye, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began in 2017 as a hobby. I wanted to learn everything there was to know about balloon artistry and began practicing and investing more and more. In 2019 I decided to turn my hobby into a registered business and filed for my LLC. In 2020 I decided to quit my government job and pursue balloon decor full time. In 2021 I opened a workspace inside the downtown Circle Center mall in Indianapolis, Indiana. As of today, Art Haus Balloon Company is one of the top-rated balloon decor providers in the Indianapolis area.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly not. When I started my business, I was technically homeless. I had to move into the spare bedroom in my sister’s home with my two young children. There was a point in time when I had to work over 80hrs a week at my government job to be able to funnel money into my business as well as provide for my children because my business was not churning a profit or much revenue at all to be honest. At several points within this journey, I have been without a vital necessity (shelter, car, job) however I continued to push toward my dream because it called to me so clearly.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a professional balloon artist, I specialize in luxury, corporate, and celebrity balloon decor. I have provided decor for over 400 events in the Indianapolis area. I am most proud of the fact that I was able to turn my hobby into a full-time enterprise. As a single mother of two, It has not been an easy journey and I am proud of myself for always staying in the game even when it got tough. The thing that sets me apart from others is my persistent drive. I am fiercely competitive with myself, and I am always trying to outdo the last thing I did. This sets me apart because I am always hungry and eager to advance within my industry.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years I see a major expansion for event services including balloon decorations. I am already noticing an uptick in new artists pouring into the marketplace daily. I hope to continue to see more people. corporations, event centered around celebrating life. Life is so short; every moment should be momentous.
