Today we’d like to introduce you to Sada Volkoff and Onya Volkov.
Sada and Onya before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We are two sisters who believe wholly in using eco-friendly, natural or organic products in the home and on the body. We have always shared the best we could find with each other and our friends and family would ask for recommendations — this passion for sharing with others evolved into Green Pear Organics — a website where we gather the products into one place you can trust.
We are very careful with our product mix and have turned down excellent opportunities because the product simply wasn’t clean or sustainable enough. We search for the very best, the cleanest, most effective and affordable. Neither of us is one for compromise. We also rely on our loyal customer base to voice their needs as part of our research process.
In our three years, we’ve gained a solid following in Southern California and along the entire West Coast. To accommodate our growing client base, we are redeveloping our current website (look for a new online shop coming soon!) We ship nationwide and are not only expanding our product base with reputable eco-brands but we have introduced refill options and our own, proprietary products including our best-selling Salt Spray. We are looking forward to where 2020 will take us!
Has it been a smooth road?
Developing an online presence can be difficult. Firstly customers have to find us and secondly they have to come back to us—so the challenge is twofold. We encourage people to always shop local and shop small. We hope our involvement, unique product line and exceptional customer service will win over repeat customers.

We believe personal health and the health of the planet go hand-in-hand. This is why eliminating chemicals and toxins is as important to us as going plastic-free and zero waste. Having opened three years ago, we are proud to be one of the first businesses of our kind in the area. We strive to provide education and information on healthy, sustainable living as well as products that do not harm our health or the environment. We hope to make it as easy as possible for people to embrace the concept of green living.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We love being SoCal natives. And we are so proud that San Diego and our coastal region recognizes the importance of what Green Pear Organics is about… So YES it’s a perfect place for our business to thrive and for us to reach as many locals as possible!
As for improvements, we believe popup shops and opportunities for “Etsy-like” malls are of vital importance for the growth of small business is vital. Traditional retail is changing and we need to get ahead of it and provide creative bricks-and-mortar opportunities/experiences to rival online shopping. 😀
