Meet Sam, Zach Hughes and Vinny Weeks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam, Zach Hughes and Vinny Weeks.

Sam, Zach, and Vinny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The three of us have known each other since the 1st grade(Zach and I a little earlier obviously), and have been pretty much inseparable ever since. For most of our childhood, we had always joked about starting a band; never thinking that joke would turn into reality by the end of high school, 2013 to be exact. We originally started as a punk band called “The Undesirables.” It was a good starting point for us since we all didn’t have much experience with our instruments. After playing around San Diego county for a few years, we all eventually went our separate ways. Whether it was for work or personal reasons, we all didn’t have enough time for the band.

Then about 2018, Zach and I had been playing as a two piece for a few years, but we’re missing a key piece, the bass. We reached out to Vinny and got him to come back into the fold, completing the band. Now we have a good sound that’s developing, and more importantly, we’re having a blast!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth for the most part, besides just not having all the time we’d like to play or practice. All three of us work full time and schedules don’t always line up, so it’s sometimes slow going on getting songs to a point we can consider finished. But these are only small obstacles, that are easy enough to work around.

Please tell us about your music.
We are a three piece rock trio, with a heavy rock sound. The band consists of Zach Hughes on guitar, Vinny weeks on bass, and me (Sam Hughes) on drums. I sing lead, but Zach and Vinny provide the much needed back-ups. There is room for new additions, but we’re very happy where we are now.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Because there’s too many to count, I’m going to say all of our friends and family. From feeding and supporting us to just making it out to one of our mid-week gigs, everyone plays a big part in keeping us going. Without their support, we’d have given up a long time ago.
