Samantha Murillo

Samantha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, my name is Samantha & I’m the owner of Flawless Beauty Bar a welcoming space where women come to enhance their natural beauty through eyelash extensions & where future artists are trained to build their own dream careers.

I’ve been passionate about beauty ever since I was a junior in high school. I always knew this was the path I wanted to take, and enrolling in beauty school was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It was a fun, memorable experience that I’m still so grateful for. I passed all of my courses, became a licensed cosmetologist & started working in the beauty industry.

I began my career doing hair first at Great Clips, then at a traditional salon. Over time, I found myself drawn to the detail & creativity of eyelash extensions. I’ve always believed that the eyes are the focal point of the face. When I do my own makeup, I focus mostly on my eyes because they’re powerful & naturally beautiful. That belief is what led me to pursue lashing.

I started learning lash extensions just before the pandemic hit. I had completed my certification, but when COVID shut everything down, I wasn’t able to work in the salon for about three and a half years. When I was finally able to return, I decided to take a big leap & opened my own small suite inside Phenix Salon Suites. The first couple of months were tough, I had no clients but I stayed committed. I promoted my work every day, talked to people, and slowly began building my clientele.

Within a year, I was fully booked & even took my first international trip something I’d always dreamed of. After two years in that suite, I moved into a larger, more bigger room so l switched locations, which is where I am now. My business continued to grow & I expanded into education.

Something that really shaped me was the support I had growing up. My dad was a huge part of my motivation, he always pushed me to believe in myself and go after what I wanted. He passed away in 2016 till this day it hurts deeply.. but I carry that encouragement with me every day. My mom has also been a strong, steady influence in my life. She always reminded me and my siblings to work hard and aim higher. I truly believe their support helped me become the woman & business owner I am today.

Now, I’m proud to say that I’m not only a lash artist, but also a lash educator. I created The Flawless Classic Internship Program, which is a beginner-friendly training course that focuses on classic lash fundamentals. I believe that mastering the basics especially placement & isolation is crucial before moving into advanced styles like hybrid or volume. My goal is to help aspiring lash artists build strong, confident foundations in their craft & in business.

My business is truly my passion & I feel incredibly blessed for the growing support I’ve received along the way. I’ve worked hard to build something from the ground up & this is just the beginning. I’m excited to keep growing, inspiring others & creating a legacy through my work. The road hasn’t always been smooth but im incredibly grateful for my family, friends & clients have really encouraged me throughout every stage of my journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road in the beginning wasn’t always easy.. I didn’t start with a lot of guidance or hands-on support, and there were moments I really had to figure things out on my own. But those experiences built my resilience & shaped the businesswoman I am today. Over time, the support around me grew & now my family, friends & clients have truly encouraged me through every stage of my journey & for that, I’m incredibly grateful

One of the biggest realities of running your own business is that income isn’t guaranteed it comes in waves. Client flow isn’t always consistent, and there are slow seasons that can feel discouraging if you’re not prepared for them. Unlike a traditional job, you don’t get paid hourly you have to earn every dollar through hard work, marketing, and delivering a great experience.

And beyond the beauty work itself, you wear every hat in your business. You’re the artist, the cleaner, the receptionist, the inventory manager, the social media team, and customer service all in one. It’s definitely a full-time job, and then some.

But even with those struggles, it’s all worth it. Seeing the growth of something you built from nothing is so rewarding. There’s a deep sense of pride, freedom, and fulfillment that makes all the tough days worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a licensed cosmetologist, full-time lash technician, and educator, and I run my own business, Flawless Beauty Bar. I specialize in classic lash extensions and take a lot of pride in perfecting the fundamentals of clean, beautiful, natural-looking sets. While I offer lash services to clients, a big part of my work & what I’m growing to be known for is my beginner-friendly lash education.

I created a hands-on Classic Internship Program that teaches new artists how to properly apply classic lashes with a strong focus on isolation, placement & building confidence behind the chair. What sets my program apart is the level of intention & structure I put into the experience. It’s not just about technique I also focus on helping my students understand the business side, client communication, and what it really takes to succeed in this industry.

What makes my work unique is how invested I am in the success of each student & client who walks through my doors. I don’t rush through appointments or trainings. I truly care about the quality of the experience. I’ve built a space that’s welcoming, supportive & I’m proud of the reputation my brand has earned for both service & education.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there’s one thing I’d love to leave readers with, it’s that you don’t need to have it all figured out to start. When I began this journey, I didn’t have all the answers and honestly, I didn’t always feel supported. There were moments where I had to shut out the noise, trust my gut, and keep moving forward anyway. I knew what I wanted, and I wasn’t going to let fear or doubt stop me from chasing it.

I’m proud of the studio I’ve created, but even more proud of the experience it offers. Whether someone walks in for lashes or as a student looking to learn, I want them to leave feeling empowered and seen. That’s what Flawless Beauty Bar is really about new beginnings, personal growth, and helping people feel beautiful in their own skin.

And to anyone out there working toward a dream especially if you feel like you’re doing it alone just know that you’re not. Growth takes time. Progress isn’t always visible right away. But if you stay committed to your vision, it will pay off in ways bigger than you can imagine.
