Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Angelo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sandra. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
A mediocre artist, I longed for awards and commissions, but I couldn’t get my paper to look like the ideas in my head. Even my portraits of people and pets didn’t land a likeness. So that’s why it’s so surprising that I went from a chronic failure to a Fellowship Award from Rhode Island School of Design, and today, I’m apprenticing wildly successful art students on five continents.
It happened in 3 Phases.
First, I naively tried self-help books and wasted a decade crawling from blah to not quite so bad art.
Finally, I discovered that in Europe, instead of a do it yourself route, they apprentice with top Art Masters and that feedback helped them skip past decades of experimentation, becoming a Master fast!
So, I did the same, and boy did those critiques pay off! My chronic agonizing mistakes vanished and in less than a year, I was landing lucrative corporate and private commissions.
But soon I realized this wasn’t my end game; my personal journey simply laid groundwork for my life’s mission:
• Apprenticeships with folks who want to master art in days instead of decades.
How did your journey help you launch online apprenticeships and what sets you apart from the competition?
When others witnessed my meteoric rise, they begged me to divulge my treasure map and that’s when I discovered my true passion – Helping folk’s master art in days instead of decades. LearnToDrawFAST.com online apprenticeship programs were born and I began to build a course library with simplified lessons – a fast track path for Old Masters’ methods.
To stock that vault, I became a magazine columnist for The Artist’s Magazine, American Artist, Michael’s Arts & Crafts and that allowed me to gather all the Masters’ insider tips, tricks and shortcuts in one place. Geared toward beginners and beyond, folks can now apprentice with Masters at their own pace, without quitting their job or traveling.
To my amazement, PencilDrawingCollege.com and ColoredPencilCollege.com began to spawn huge transformations worldwide:
• Within 6 months, Carol Leather from the UK, went from stick figures to earning thousands of dollars on 7 lucrative commissions.
• Bruce Macdonald from North Carolina who started at 67, and is now ready for commissions. www.BruceMacdonaldPortraits.com.
• Rancho Bernardo resident Nita Draut began with stick figures at 70, (www.NitaDrautsGallery.com) and at age 90 she was offered a one woman show at Poway Performing Art Center, displaying 90 of her 500+ stunning, realistic portraits. Her art has been featured in books, magazines, newspapers and even on TV.
Thousands of apprentices on five continents have vastly improved their skills because instead of complicated programs that require innate talent, my workshops distill Masters’ methods into lessons that are so easy, absolutely anyone can succeed…fast!
Rhode Island School of Design was so impressed with the rapid transformations, they called me the best Art Coach in the US and granted me a Fellowship Award.
Soon, my courses landed an Emmy nomination, prestigious First Place awards and The Washington Post featured my drawing course, on the front page TV Guide.
That spawned invitations to demonstrate on ABC’s Good Morning Texas, 5 shows on HGTV in Opryland, demos on the Discovery Channel, KUSI, NBC, TNN and more.
Has it been a smooth road?
My third phase started as intense adversity.
In 2003, the San Diego Cedar fire disseminated 2,300+ homes, including my home and 17 year old business, plus 900 pieces of my art. At first, I wondered if my business would survive, but this turned out to be a gift.
No longer able to sell my art, I launched an invitation only online Atelier for Masters in Training, for folks who want to take a deep dive and immerse themselves in art.
Soon I found myself coaching world famous millionaires like Tony Robbins, who flew me to Venice, Italy to teach his Platinum Club how to paint on the Grand Canal. Louise Hay attended my art sessions in her Rolls Royce and when I apprenticed millionaires in their villas, they wanted to continue to work with me remotely.
They began to join me on art and culture adventures where we climbed inside a painting by immersing ourselves in the culture that birthed it.
In Monet’s garden, we discovered a Master who planted the world he wanted to paint. Inside the Masters’ inner sanctum, my Atelier Apprentices discovered how to orchestrate an inspired life that spills onto their paper or canvas. Soon the line blurs between work and vacation and their suppressed art dreams burst into bloom!
I often feel like a Fairy Art Mother as I equip folks with the skills you need, so that your paper or canvas accurately represents your creative ideas. Magically, art becomes a spa and aerobics for the brain, as you soak in the serenity and joy that bubbles up from effective self-expression.
If you want to equip your muse with art skills, I invite you to a free online workshop that peeks inside www.PencilDrawingCollege.com. I love making your art dreams come true and when you succeed, so will I.
