Meet Sara Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Rose.

Hi Sara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thank you and it’s been an absolute pleasure! Originally a data analyst for the California government, I decided to pursue Information Technology/3d Design fueled by a secret desire to work for National Geographic-type documentaries. I had just completed my degree in Multimedia Design and Development in 2020 when COVID-19 lockdown initiated. My internship was canceled so started my Master’s program and a Twitch stream at the same time. My content creation was so successful I quit school to pursue my media business. I used to opportunity to start NerdGlasses, LLC and copyright my channels emojis and designs for merchandise on RedBubble. I expanded my media to also include travel blogging and you can see more of my backstory here: https://medium.com/@nerdglassesllc/nerdglasses-media-publishing-eb767bde64b8.

More recently, I noticed that a lot of my journey has focused on natural botanicals, flowers, and plant life. This has bled into my photography and adventures, but you can see more of this at www.ThereGoesSaraRose.com! A love of documentaries helped me learn ancient people preserved parts of their lives, some through salt and resin. So I thought, “Why not try this on flowers?” And thus, Fliptzy Earrings was born, my official line of jewelry where the flagship items are dried rose petal earrings! As I love writing so much, I have a book in the works focused on incorporating my floral photography out this fall. The designs behind Fliptzy Earrings is something I am incredibly passionate about because we should be able to shine from the inside out, with earrings that emote with us! No more flipping your earrings back the right way, whip them back and forth because they glitz on the back as well! It’s an energy and a mood, VIBE OUT!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not a smooth road. I grew up in a cult and was kicked out due to my outspoken nature. I found myself homeless weeks after turning 18. I spent a decade working in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, a paramilitary environment. Desks jobs felt like surviving and not able to truly pursue creativity. I learned the Department of Rehabilitation can help those find just better suited to their abilities and went back to school with their assistance. Since then, I have started NerdGlasses, LLC a media and publishing company to accomplish LOTS of goals I never thought possible. The hardest part is actually marketing myself as I really want to make my information accessible to others, not sell it. However, I really need to be able to make a living (as well all do!) so put major effort into my writing my book and jewelry line which also always me to share my artistic side with others and turned out to be a win-win. My travel blog has been active for over a year and my Twitch stream was successful a year before that! I truly enjoyed gaming and traveling but do not do that 24/7 now that lockdown is over. Through, Fliptzy Earrings I plan to connect with my audience in a new, live, and consistent way with live art streaming. Each aspect of my media has always included audio so my next project is to include a podcast to talk about everything (my other podcast is just travel) called “Nerd on the Fliptz Side,” coming later this year!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
A media producer, a travel blogger, a live streamer, it sounds like a lot of different things but each focus on our mental health and making others feel better by blooming into their potential. Now what better way to improve the way you feel than by inserting a bit of floral energy into your day? In addition to my media work, I decided to share my love of Avante Garde jewelry by creating my own, each with very unique aspects. The process is self-taught and took me a year to learn but as my Uncle was a jeweler, and we traveled to gem shows together since I was a child, it makes some of the creation, testing, and layering processes much easier. Surrounded by Flowers, Crystal, Glow-in-the-dark/Blacklight products & Essential Oils I feel more like a scientist in a lab searching for the brightest colors in nature, not just a jewelry designer. Finding those colors and sharing them with others is what makes this creative process really fun!

A’ rose by any other name may smell as sweet’, but petal earrings from THIS rose is twice as neat!

What sets me apart in being able to help others and understand technology like no one else, I’m always creating something new. This has made very strong connections with others who are multipotentialites. While researching, I continually hare strategies, and watch otheres bloom into their potential! I found myself a teacher more than a doer after college but this led to more quality and learning than the quantity of creation. I’m ok with trying it a few times before I get it right but now I am making up for lost time! For example, when I started Twitch streaming, I was made Affiliated within 6 days of my first stream and was the #7 Top Watched Jackbox Streamer in the World. When I published my emotion tracker (due to my professional and personal experience in mental health), “Word Vomit, 90-day Emotion Tracker” on Amazon, it made the “Amazon Top Sellers” list in Children’s Journals within 24 hours after its release. Now it’s time to share my passion & love of art and creativity with everyone through Fliptzy Earrings. I am consistently a helper and problem solver through media but designing keeps me sane and I hope to share those positive vibes with others!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
It has been a lot of inner strength. Creative collaborators who have provided amazing insight into the struggles they have faced in the industry have made the most impact and I’ve appreciated their vulnerability. The problem with breaking the generational routine as an entrepreneur is that many in our immediate circle may not believe a new path can be successful, they need to see the proof. On the fliptz-side (pun intended!), nay-sayers are sometimes the ones who inspire us to look inward and strengthen ourselves.

(All of my blood family ostracized, “disfellowshipped”, me as I chose to leave the cult mentioned above so) I have many friends that have joined projects over the years and who become my new chosen “family”, it would be too much to name them all but I wouldn’t be in this same position today if it wasn’t for all of the wonderful friends who have acted like sisters, brothers, mothers and more! I appreciate the community that is the growing art California culture of California, we find each other and stick together.
