Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Bockstahler.
Hi Sarah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have worked in critical care for 8 years. I have seen the worst of the worst situations. I have witnessed the consequences of neglecting one’s body and health. Working during the pandemic was a wake-up call for me. I just had my 2nd baby, and I started dealing with my own health issues. I was having severe anxiety, depression, and my face was breaking out like I was going through puberty again. Being in my 30s and dealing with acne was something that added to my emotional struggles, but it was something that motivated me to take charge of my well-being.
After a full-blown panic attack, I reached out to my doctors for blood work; I knew something was off. I had a bunch of bloodwork done, and everything was “normal,” but I didn’t feel normal. After a quick follow-up appointment, the doctor wanted to prescribe birth control and anti-anxiety medications. I left the appointment frustrated & angry. I did not want to put a band-aid on the situation. I am the type of person who has to know the hows and the whys. I wanted to solve my issues at the root. I have learned that nutrition plays a huge role in all of this!
I started my search online into nutrition and holistic health care. I found a program that aligned with my values, and I started my journey of self-educating & self-healing. Having a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, I always understood the importance of physical activity, but I realized true well-being encompassed so much more.
This discovery propelled me to become a holistic health coach, eager to address people’s issues at the root. I firmly believe that optimal health involves a balanced approach, incorporating nourishing nutrition, mindful movement, stress management, and healing from past traumas. Through my journey as a holistic health coach, I’ve learned invaluable lessons that I now apply not only to myself but also to empower and support others in their pursuit of genuine well-being.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting your own health journey is definitely not a linear path. There are a lot of ups and downs. I like to think that we are our own best doctor. If something doesn’t seem right for you, go read books, educate yourself, and find out which foods and movement work best for your body. I have spent so much money on different lab tests trying to figure out WHY I was experiencing certain symptoms. It has taken me almost 3 years to have a clear understanding and find out what foods work best for me. To get here, I have had to be consistent, patient, and open-minded.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a certified integrative nutrition specialist and a certified personal trainer. I work with boss babes and busy mamas; I teach them how to adequately nourish their bodies, balance their hormones, and heal their metabolisms without any fad diets.
I work 1:1 with women & I do group coaching. I teach women how to eat in a way that supports their metabolism. No restriction diets. No diet plans to follow here. You will learn how to eat balanced meals, portion sizes, ways to balance your blood sugar, and so much more. I give you the education and tools to be successful long-term without me!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is going on our yearly family vacation to Lake Nacimento. Growing up, this is something we did every year with our family friends, and it was some of the best times!
