Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Fathy.
Sarah, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
With a degree in graphic design combined with my love of travel and fashion, I wanted to bring vibrant designs with luxurious fabrics handcrafted to create the essential getaway outfit. Growing up on the beaches of California and relocating in sun-drenched luxury of Dubai, I was inspired by international styles, beauty, sun, and beach. In my journeys, she saw a new opportunity: To revitalize traditional imagery and fabrics and create something non-traditional in its place.
Following a trip to Egypt, my inspiration began from the fabrics and the culture there, which sparked my first collaboration. Walking through the bazaars and souks, I found myself exploring the light fabrics and traditional Egyptian textile and came up with the idea to combine the two to take the traditional and make it untraditional in the most comfortable and appealing way for all women to feel and look their most confident and beautiful before heading out on their next vacation, adventure, or trip to the beach.
Has it been a smooth road?
There were definitely a few bumps on the road to my first collection. One was production, since I was in Egypt at the time getting fabric, I choose to also start my first production there since I would be able to get every single item made by hand and work one-on-one with tailors that would know and understand the Arabian styles and look I was looking for to make these one of a kind pieces. So to start my very first collection in a new territory that I was new to was a challenge. We had to go through a few samples to get the right finish and time was not on my side since I had to finish all production before leaving back to the states.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Poska Resort Wear story. Tell us more about the business.
Poska Resortwear is a luxury resort and beachwear brand and your ultimate travel wardrobe. It was created with a vision to combine east meets west. Poska Resortwear line is all about the details. Every single item is made by hand! We work one-on-one with our tailors to make one of a kind pieces, and whether you want to smolder in the sand or rock city nightlife, each look evokes a conventional style with brand new accents and playful touches. I believe my brand brings a refreshing new look to resort wear with Arabian / Moroccan look with the textile and style and that is also what sets us apart.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
What I envision for Poska Resort Wear in the next few years is expanding my production but still keeping pieces one of a kind by keeping each type limited to amount I produce. And like any company, I hope to grown my business to be sold and shipped all over the world.
