Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah White.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I fell in love with photography in the most gradual way. I got a camera for Christmas when I was about 10 and took hundreds of pictures in New Hampshire while on vacation. After that, I was kinda hooked. There would be long periods I would go without photographing anything, but always came back to picking up a camera. Eventually, my friends and family pushed me to start photographing people and to step out of my comfort zone. Since then, I have adored photographing couples and engagements but still find time to take pictures of pretty places and objects that catch my eye.
Please tell us about your art.
I’m still flowing in my style – it shifts with who I am in the now but currently, I’ve been in love with capturing romance – raw and silly and real. I find intimate moments or a shared laugh undeniably heartwarming. I like movement and fluidity in exchange for stiff and posed images. I want to capture how someone feels in an instant-with color and angle and height. I want them to think “that looks exactly how it felt”.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Success is enjoying what you do and financially being able to do it. I believe that to be successful, one must be willing to stay committed to pursuing success even when you’re exhausted – possibly crying on your bathroom floor, wondering why it wasn’t as easy as you thought it would be. To get up, off the floor and recommit to making it happen for you – over and over again.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I am still working from the ground up in my new little photography business. Word of mouth is huge for me – if someone sees something of mine that they love and tells someone else to check out my Instagram or to inquire about a session, a surprise engagement or elopement it means the world. I am always looking for opportunities to hone in my skills and impact someones special day or moment.
