Meet Sasha Shanner of Shanner Real Estate in Del Cerro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Shanner.

Sasha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As an Idaho native, I moved to San Diego in 1996 to attend PLNU and play basketball. I graduated in Finance and worked a few inside sales jobs in the financial field, including financial planning and mortgage loans. I met my husband in 2006, we married and had a child quickly thereafter. The meltdown of the economy in 2007 prompted me to lose my job as a manager at Countrywide Home Loans. I then started working with him in his Bankruptcy law firm. Quickly, it grew and we had 7 employees and were filing over 40 bankruptcies a month through the years up until 2013.

Then, it stopped. BK’s slowed down dramatically, our income was cut in half and I was encouraged to reinvent myself. I decided to get my real estate license in mid-2013. I have 3 little girls, ages 10, 7 and 2 and they are very much my WHY. I hustle for my clients every day and offer real time market knowledge. My husband continues to practice law and is my real estate broker. I have taken my real estate business to a full time operating company with 2 agents working under me and selling homes every month. In 2017, I won the San Diego Association of Realtors GOLD award for top 5% of agents. I did this through connecting with my clients, providing unparalleled service and honest information about their home.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth road? Um, no. Without getting too personal, we all have baggage, family drama, and health challenges. I would say each year of my adult life, God has given me a lesson learned, usually in the form of a hardship. My challenge is to keep a growth mindset when setbacks happen. I try to think that God already knew and planned this heartache for my life, so roll with it, breathe through it, and then, surrender to what is.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Shanner Real Estate – what should we know?
I am most proud of my client satisfaction. I am a big picture home strategist. They say that I have real-time information for them to make good decisions, with timelines, and my experience helps them to know what to expect. I guide, don’t boss. I listen to their goals, don’t preach. And I always have their back. Education about market changes, current sales, and inventory in our always fast moving San Diego real estate market helps them make informed decisions. I specialize in selling homes, however, when I get to help my clients move into a new home (buyers) I have so much fun showing properties and negotiating the best price for them. I am a full time, full-service Realtor that skips on the cheesy hard sell and is a straight shooter with a degree in finance so I can put the math component of money together for them. I recently moved and sold and bought a home again and I have so much compassion for what homeowners go through… it can be stressful!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I take things head on. I don’t avoid clients or problems that may arise in a transaction; I answer my phone when they call. Basic, right?
