Today we’d like to introduce you to Saul Ramos.
Saul, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my music career way back when I was about 17 years old. I started a YouTube channel and started posting covers of all the songs I loved or felt pushed my abilities to more than I expected. After a few years of doing my channel I learned some production skills as well as mixing skills and joined a band with my friends which is still ongoing. The band is known as “The Dethroned” and we’re currently working on some material. I have however recently released a new track called “Those You Left Behind” which I’m very proud to finally have been able to release. Now I just aim to keep releasing music and building a community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it has been tough especially with how challenging it can be to “rise above the noise”. Although I always pursued music as my main passion I also have had many struggles within myself. I have mental health issues which got in the way in my younger years, which I am grateful to have been able to keep in check as I grew older. Doubt is a factor I really had when I was younger but has dwindled as I have decided to just release my music for myself instead of focusing on the numbers.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a musician, primarily a guitarist, in San Diego that releases music with my band “The Dethroned” and through my personal projects under my name. “Those You Left Behind” is my latest release, which I plan to build upon with more music. What I am most proud of is my music and the amazing friendships I’ve built along the way as I keep creating music.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’ve been reading the Dune series lately and will be reading the Iliad/The Odyssey afterwards! Also looking to explore other books to read different themes that can help my lyric writing as I am exploring that area of songwriting more.
