Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Arca.
Hi Sean, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in the Philippines, and I was raised in Imperial Beach, CA. I attended the University of California, Irvine and graduated with a double major in Criminology and Anthropology. Currently, I am a Recruiter in telecommunications working with companies like Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, etc. and help staff their telecom projects.
Throughout my life, I have always loved clothes and fashion. I’ve dreamed of working in the Fashion Industry in some shape or form. During the pandemic, I decided to make a Tiktok and create Fashion Content for fun and see where it would lead me. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try and if it turned into opportunities and flourished, it would be a plus.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?|
The beginning was rough, I had to learn new skill sets and sharpened up the things I knew. I had to learn the ins and outs of Tiktok, learning how to edit videos, and learning what works, and what doesn’t work for my audience. It took a few months to get the hang of it but once I figured out what “worked” for my niche, I started to see some payoff.
On top of this, I had to learn how to manage my time wisely and plan my content ahead of time. Juggling a full-time job and creating content on the side took some time to get used to. Looking at where I was at the beginning, I have grown in so many ways and have learned from other creators and other avenues to improve my skills and content that I put out.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work involved creating Fashion content on social media. Though it doesn’t look like much, I enjoy utilizing these avenues as my creative outlet and seeing other people appreciate my content is very fulfilling.
I mix women’s and men’s fashion to create unique looks. I try to break the social constructs of gender by showing that clothes have no gender, and anyone can wear anything that they want. I was able to build up an audience and I am proud of my growth since I started creating content. I didn’t think that I’d grow an audience and find a community that would appreciate my silly videos.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think I’ve been successful because I create content for fun. I don’t put pressure on myself to create the perfect content. I have found that the videos that I was myself and spent less time on have gotten more traction. Additionally, I try to continually engage and connect with my audience/followers by answering questions, creating content that they request, and connecting in any way that I can.
