Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Dunaway.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Loud Thoughts started as just that, a “thought.” Back in 2009, I had an idea to bring music, art, and fashion into one creative lifestyle. It was not until 2016, with the help of some long-time friends turned business partners, that this would grow from just an idea into a full-service lifestyle brand.
The “LOUD” in Loud Thoughts actually doubles as an acronym and stands for “Live Out Ur Dreams.” As dreamers ourselves, we understand that thoughts have the power to make those dreams a reality when expressed out loud. Through our clothing, events, and content; we hope to provide the motivation and resources needed for San Diego’s creatives and lifestyle entrepreneurs to do just that.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What road ever really is? Even the highway has it’s bumpy areas. We’ve definitely have had our fair share of struggle, but at the end of the day, those struggles are what make our journey special and unique.
If you’re not willing to learn and grow through the tough times, then your journey will likely be a short one. For instance, we celebrated our two year anniversary last July by hosting a pop-up concert featuring Casey Veggies. Due to a number of circumstances, we were forced to change our venue twice within 48 hours of the event.
We learned a lot about ourselves as a team through that experience and used that knowledge to make our next big event, a Halloween pop up experience downtown, even better. What happens to us isn’t always as important as what we choose to do about it.
Please tell us about Loud Thoughts.
Loud Thoughts started out as a lifestyle clothing brand. We set out to create clothing with a message. Something that would inspire our customers and anyone who came in contact with our brand to live out their dreams and ultimately become the best version of themselves.
After throwing our first few events, we soon realized that we could be a little more than JUST a clothing company. So now Loud Thoughts is a clothing and lifestyle brand. We want to create content, events, clothing, and experiences that bring the dreamers together.
We also have a service side of our business, Loud Thoughts Printing & Design. We offer screen printing, graphic design, and photography services to other brands and creatives in the San Diego area. We not only want to motivate you to live out our dreams, but we’d love to help out along the way if we can.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have many memories from my childhood, but one of my favorite memories is when we would go “dirtboard” down the hills by my house. “Dirt Boarding” is exactly what it sounds like.
Essentially it’s snowboarding, but you’re riding a skateboard with no wheels and sliding down a dirt hill. So much fun!
