Today we’d like to introduce you to Seema Moorjani.
Seema, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Coach Hill Drive started as a passion project and was born out of a need to find unique decor items for my home and life that I just couldn’t seem to find anywhere else. I have always had very specific ideas in my mind about what I want, and it was becoming increasingly frustrating to not find things exactly as I had pictured them in my head. I started creating the items I wanted, and they would be around my home as decor pieces, or as custom halloween costumes, or as party decor for my kids’ birthday parties.
Friends and guests started asking me where I found these items, and I would tell them that I had made them. This led to officially starting a small business with a mission to design and create custom pieces to beautify homes and lives. Today I offer a big variety of products such as shirts, signs, cake toppers and nail decals to name a few. However, I let my customers know that just because I haven’t created it yet, doesn’t mean it’s not possible to do so! The possibilities of what Coach Hill Drive can create are as limitless as peoples’ imaginations, wants and needs.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The old adage that ‘nothing worth having comes easy’ is true! In the beginning, I had a huge learning curve in terms of sourcing materials that were of the quality I wanted. Being a perfectionist by nature, this alone was a big task. With so many options, it took a lot of trial and error to find the right suppliers. Managing the paperwork side of the business was also a test of time management. While there were many new things to learn along the way, the biggest for me was learning to use social media to promote the business.
These days, the majority of my customer base is reached via Facebook and Instagram, and while I had used these apps for personal enjoyment, I had a lot of learning to do to figure out how to use these tools in the most effective and efficient way possible to grow my business. Figuring out how to use social media to your advantage is a constantly moving target, and I am still learning!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Coach Hill Drive – what should we know?
Coach Hill Drive is all about delivering custom items to beautify your home and life. This can be anything from a fun shirt for a group event, to a housewarming or going-away gift, to holiday decor items, cake toppers, and even nail decals. This list, however, is not all-inclusive. If you are looking for something very unique for yourself, or to give to someone, I can work with you to create it! Often times, a customer will say that they are looking for something special, but they don’t know exactly what that might be.
I am always happy to make suggestions and work with them to come up with personalization or customization ideas that will work. I will continue to work with the customer until we achieve a design that we both love. It’s always amazing to see what can be created out of a simple idea! I love designing and creating beautiful items with a lighthearted feel. This could be a set of ‘punny’ coasters or seasonal wine glasses with funny phrases on them. I want my items to bring a smile to your face every time to see or use them!
What I believe sets Coach Hill Drive apart from others is my attention to detail, and my truest desire to have a happy customer. I am proud of every piece I create and I want that to show through the quality and attention to detail. I know how I want to be treated as a customer, and I strive to give that same level of service to my customers. Coach Hill Drive is rooted in delivering unique and custom items that are both beautiful and meaningful to everyone that enjoys them.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that my need for perfection and attention to detail is what is most important to my success. I know first hand the joy that comes from envisioning an idea for a product in my head, putting that idea to paper and then seeing that idea come to life in the form of a special piece. I want that same joy for my customers. The projects I love the most are the ones in which the customers don’t know what exactly they want me to create, but they do know what the recipients’ likes or dislikes are, and maybe what the recipients’ decor taste is. From those few details, a beautiful end result is achieved, and that leaves me proud of what I’ve accomplished and makes my customer proud to hand that item over to the recipient.
