Meet Seyshion Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seyshion Garcia

Hi Seyshion, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the baby resale business for over ten years. It all started with a high school internship when I was seventeen, ending with lifelong friends and a lifetime impact. About a year ago, it was brought to my attention that The Baby Trader needed a new owner. Before I knew it, we relocated the previous baby trader and opened our doors on March 2nd, 2024.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey to this point has been bumpy, to say the least, but hopefully, it will be all the more rewarding. Although The Baby Trader was previously established, this is my first time running, owning, and operating my own business, which can be challenging in itself. A fresh start was necessary, so the previous logo and aesthetic were changed. We happened to suffer from water damage, and opening day was postponed for a month due to the floods in San Diego this year. We have done all renovations, including hand-built shelves and counters, so when the flood happened, it was set back. Regardless of our obstacles, we are up and running and hope to be a staple to the community.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Besides opening my resale boutique, I am also a cultural anthropologist currently enrolled in the San Diego State University graduates’ program. I dabble in archaeology and have worked with a cultural resource management company for years. I thrive on working with people and being an asset to my community.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Cherish your loved ones because you never know what the future holds.
