Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamron Rackley
Hi Shamron, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sham Blak has been making music for some time. A common name in the San Diego High School of Business halls between 2003-2006, he has remained resilient, focused and dedicated. For him it started at the tender age of eight, recording on a boom box built in mic, no beat, a couple cousins and a bone thugs and Harmony rap pattern. In the end he along with his other Spooky Gang family will be remembered in areas for the notorious chant “Spooky”.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road wasn’t always smooth. After graduating High school he and former musical partner were invited to Orlando, Florida for a music convention and became aquatinted with then manager Jason Frazier. After a short stretch of out of state performances Sham Blak returned home where he ran into the life style challenges of a 19yr old man in South East San Diego. That led to him joining the military.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the owner of Waves in the Tide urban surf wear brand. We will be known for bringing ocean sports and recreation to the inner city. We are set apart from other because minorities have minimum representation on the costal fronts. Growing up in San Diego I barley saw the beach as a youth and I would like to break that cycle. I am most proud of the brand for having the courage to take part in charity work. We have worked with Blue Bridge Sound System, Border X, Attitude Brewing in raising money and hosting a food drive this past Thanksgiving. Waves in the Tide offers unique apparel that is combined with style and comfort.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Always reading, taking notes and being lost in the ground work. And by that, I mean self-development. My favorite book has been the 48 Laws of Power, being a service member it was a book that identified many points of views that leaders would need to be aware of. As of late I have been digesting Contagious by Jonah Berger. A book Nipsey Hussle named drop some time back but was very vocal about his approach to his branding.
