Meet Shani Anderson of North Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shani Anderson

Hi Shani, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
While attending Santa Rosa Junior College in 1999 I discovered I was pregnant and didn’t have time to stay in traditional college. After receiving my AA while pregnant I had a decision to make. After giving birth to my son I worked as a preschool teacher until I made the decision to attend Cosmetology school since it was something I was interested in and already doing for fun. I relocated back to my hometown of Chico, Ca to attend Butte College Cosmetology School. After graduation Cosmetology school in 2001 I returned to Santa Rosa to build my business. I worked as a stylist in Santa Rosa until my two sons and I relocated to San Diego around 2009. While building my brand in San Diego I continued for 12 years to fly back to the Bay Area every six weeks to service my clients in that area. I’m blessed to still service clients all over the US. I’ve had the honor of being the stylist for the Golden State Warrior Girls, numerous Music videos, Miss Marin, Miss Sonoma County, Fashion Shows, Homeless/Misplaced women and children, Physically disabled children and adults and much more.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a business owner is never smooth. Building and running a business all while being a single mother was not easy! While building a clientele you have to be available 24/7 which can be tough with small children but thankfully I was in a salon with a back room that allowed me to have my children with me. When moving to San Diego I worked at a salon that required us to do fashion shows late night in a club in PB which was a major challenge for a single mother but you do what’s necessary to keep food on the table and a roof over your children’s head.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Hair Stylist. I am known for Curly hair, vivid color transformations & Brazilian Blowouts but I do and enjoy it ALL.. haircuts, colors, highlights, lowlights, relaxers, Tape-in extensions, and keratin treatments. I am most proud of the experience I cultivate for my clients. The Love I spread and forever lasting bonds I build. I am very different. I’m know as the LOVEWINS lady. Giving out small tokens of love to all that support me, having positive uplifting conversations while creating a space in which all feel safe and comfortable to come as they are in whatever emotional or physical space there in.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
