Meet Shannon Blackler of Santee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Blackler.

Hi Shannon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career in corporate finance, managing budgets and forecasts, then eventually moved into financial systems implementations and led technical teams of program managers. I spent the majority of my 17-year career in large corporations, navigating fast-paced environments, delivering results, and supporting cross-functional teams. Over time, and especially after becoming a mom, I began to crave something deeper. I wanted work that felt more meaningful and allowed for a greater sense of balance in my life.

What began as a personal interest in growth and self-development turned into something more. I became a certified and credentialed life coach and stepped into a new chapter. One that brings together my leadership experience and my passion for helping people reconnect with themselves in a real and lasting way.

Today, I support women and teen girls who want to feel more confident, clear, and grounded, without the constant pressure to prove or perform. My work is about creating space for honesty, reflection, and growth, so clients can make choices that actually feel good and aligned with who they are.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. For a long time, I tied my worth to achievement. I was constantly overfunctioning, saying yes to everything, and measuring success by how much I could achieve. From the outside, it looked like I had it all together, but on the inside, I was exhausted.

One of the hardest parts was realizing that the life I had worked so hard to build no longer felt like mine. Slowing down felt uncomfortable and unfamiliar. I didn’t know who I was without the constant doing, fixing, and managing. Letting go of the version of myself who always had it under control felt like a loss, even though it created space for something more fulfilling.

Starting my own business came with a new set of challenges. I experienced moments of self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and uncertainty about every decision. Learning to trust my own voice and define success on my own terms required deep inner work.

This journey, while difficult at times, has given me the ability to connect with my clients in a much more meaningful way. I know what it feels like to question yourself, to carry more than you should, and to long for something different, but not know how to get there. I do not coach from a place of perfection. I meet people in the realness of their lives, because I have lived it too.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a certified and credentialed life coach, I support women and teen girls who feel stuck, overwhelmed, burned out, or unsure of how to live life in a way that actually feels good to them.

My teen clients often come to me feeling pressure to be perfect, unsure of how to speak up for themselves, or overwhelmed by school, friendships, and expectations. They are open to doing things differently. They just need a guide, a safe space, and the right support to help them figure out where they fit in a world that often asks them to be everything at once. In our coaching sessions, we create space to explore who they are, what matters to them, and how to move through life with more confidence and self-trust. I help them learn how to set healthy boundaries, navigate big emotions, and let go of the need to constantly prove themselves. Coaching gives them tools and perspective they can carry with them for life.

I also work with women who are tired of carrying it all, constantly doing more while feeling less connected to themselves. Many of them are navigating transitions in work, identity, or motherhood. Together, we untangle the patterns of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and overfunctioning that have kept them stuck. Coaching gives them space to pause, reconnect with what matters, and create a version of success that actually feels sustainable.

What I am most proud of is how often clients say they feel seen, heard, and safe in our sessions. I do not try to fix anyone. I support them in reconnecting with their voice, their strengths, and their sense of self.

What sets me apart is the combination of practical tools, a calm and honest presence, and my ability to meet each client exactly where they are. I understand what it feels like to be caught between who you think you should be and who you really are. My coaching helps bridge that gap in a way that feels encouraging, grounded, and real.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I’m the eldest girl in a family of five children, and one of my favorite childhood memories is simply growing up alongside them. I spent so much of my childhood watching over them, guiding them, and sometimes just quietly observing who they were becoming. There was a lot of chaos and noise, but also a deep sense of connection and responsibility. I think being the eldest girl shaped me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. It taught me how to listen, how to lead with care, and how to hold space for others. All things that show up in my work now in really natural ways. Some of my favorite moments were the small ones: helping with homework, whispering jokes at bedtime, or riding in the backseat all crammed together, singing along to whatever was on the radio.
