Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Mintz.
Sharon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I entered the floral world at 18, I began in a shop in Beverly Hills and learned my foundational skills. Later I began work as a freelance floral designer both in Los Angeles, San Diego and abroad. I returned to San Diego in 2005 to begin Organic Elements which has been thriving ever since.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Truly I’ve been lucky. I’ve had the honor of learning from some brilliant design minds and had the comfort of some good friends to guide me along the way. As the wedding floral industry grew, so did we, always surprising our audience with styles and innovations not yet seen. It got us noticed, it kept us working. Today we are grateful to have the opportunity to continue working alongside some incredible talent. It is these lifelong industry friends that have really kept this dream of mine alive.
Please tell us about Organic Elements.
On the surface, we are simply a wedding florist operating in Southern California, but in recent years we’ve become much more.
With a slew of carpenters, faux finishers, floral stylists and artisanal crafters, we are now able to say “yes” to designs that others would not attempt. Truly, what we do now by definition, is take our clients’ concepts and swirl them into reality as the backdrop of their wedding date.
Between the flowers, the ceremonial and decorative structures, the finishing touches of candles and custom ribbons, we create a moment in time that is truly theirs, never to be recreated.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
All those mistakes made “here” possible. Here is wonderful and I wouldn’t change a thing.
