Meet Shaun Ericson and Paul Sutton of Cireson in Little Italy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Ericson and Paul Sutton.

Born in 2012, Cireson was founded on a simple, powerful idea: to empower you to #domore with Microsoft technologies.

Having worked with various IT Service Management platforms, co-founders Shaun Ericson and Paul Sutton crossed paths frequently over the years on various projects. When Microsoft released System Center 2012, Shaun and Paul found themselves working on similar client engagements with Service Manager – this time, solving new customer challenges. This led to them to see opportunities to improve the native Service Manager engine, and Cireson was born. They began building applications to extend the power and functionality of Microsoft Service Manager, landing their first customer in 2012. Over the next few years, Cireson experienced exponential growth, with 42 apps, over 1,200 customers worldwide, and growing profits by over 40% year over year.

Cireson was named to Inc. 500 list of fastest growing privately held companies two years in a row (2016 and 2017), in addition to receiving the Inc. Best Places to Work award.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Shaun, Paul, and the entire Cireson team approach challenges as opportunities, seeking out new ways to innovate and solve customers’ problems every step of the way. As with any start-up, quitting their jobs and starting a company took a huge leap of faith. They faced typical start-up challenges, from financing to choosing the right team, and being flexible to pivot products as the market dictates.

Who else deserves credit – have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business? If so – who are they and what role did they plan/how did they help?
Shaun and Paul credit a large part of their success to the people they work with. They hire passionate, smart individuals who they frequently refer to as ‘smarter than them’. Everyone at Cireson is committed to making IT better and goes above and beyond to help customers be successful through every stage of their journey with Cireson and Microsoft System Center.

Their families have been their biggest support system over the years, sharing the joys and challenges along the way.

Shaun’s wife Alison is his rock and along with his son Daniel, motivates him daily. The next great adventure is choosing a college for Daniel in the fall!

Paul and his wife Lori recently adopted a puppy, and he thanks her for the continued support and holding down the fort with all of his travel.
