Meet Sheri Colosimo of Miracles on the Mat

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheri Colosimo.

Sheri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always loved physical movement. From a young age, dance & fitness felt like home. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized how much they helped me mentally & emotionally too. I pursued my degree in Exercise Science at the University of Dayton and then moved to Denver, CO with my husband. It was there that I not only fell in love with the mountains/outdoor living but with yoga. I had an extraordinary career with CorePower Yoga that last over a decade and then collaborations with other fitness & wellness companies. All opportunities allowed me to use my natural gift of mentorship. In addition, all of those experiences led me to start my own company: Miracles on the Mat.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Sometimes smooth, sometimes rocky, always interesting. The work that I do every day is to strengthen my belief in myself. As a leader & especially as a business owner, I find it can be challenging to self-motivate every day. It is human to have self-doubt and wonder if you are on the right path when you have setbacks. When I am low on energy or have had a stressful day, I sometimes question whether it is all worth it. Yet just when I need it the most, I get reminders from clients, colleagues, friends & family that I am making an impact. Just a little nudge goes a long way.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Miracles on the Mat – what should we know?
Miracles on the Mat provides coaching & mentorship for individuals who are interested in personal & professional growth. My job is to listen, ask generous questions, get to the core of who a person is and then support them to take action in pursuing their best life. I am honestly humbled each time I meet with a client. They are driven, curious, real, motivated and open to sharing their stories with me. I am very proud of each of them and am committed to supporting them any way that I can.

Another part of my company is education. I host yoga retreats and travel to lead trainings across the US.

Finally, I am excited to bring to life an event that has been on my mind for a few years now. The “Strong as a Mother Summit” will debut May 19th here in San Diego. It is a mini-retreat for moms to unplug, fill-up and celebrate who we are as women on this WILD journey called motherhood. We have an amazing line-up of speakers with the gorgeous Kona Kai Resort & Spa as our backdrop. Readers can find out more at www.strongasamothersummit.com.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Connection is something that I value. I take the time to really get to know someone. As an introverted extrovert, I avoid surface level conversations at all costs. I prefer to sit down 1-1 and have a deep & meaningful chat. We all are connected in some way. It just takes time, curiosity and generous questions to find out how. I love bringing people together. If I know someone who will support you with an idea or would just be an awesome person to know, I will always make the connection.
