Today we’d like to introduce you to Shernella Best.
Hi Shernella, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Shernella Best. I was born and raised in a beautiful twin island, Trinidad and Tobago. In 2009, I moved to the United States with my grandmother at the age of 16. We resided in Brooklyn, New York. There, I worked as a retail clerk for some years. I always dreamed big. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do and where I was heading in life until one day, I woke up and decided to enlist in the US Navy. Still not knowing is that was going to be my career path or not but believed that it could be a stepping stone for me, giving me endless opportunities and new relationships. April 30th, 2012, I enlisted, and from then on, my life changed. I’ve traveled the world; meet new friends, and I was able to migrate my entire family from Trinidad to the US as well. I did 10-month deployment to the middle east in 2014 which was the most challenging experiences of my life. In 2019 BBrows by Shernella was born. While still being enlisted, as single mother of a beautiful daughter, I was able to start my small business.
I always had a passion for makeup and all thing beauty. Even on the ship, I would get compliments on how well I do my eyebrows. From there, I knew that it was my calling. I started my business from my home because it was easier for me to take care of my daughter well. With persistence, Passion, and prayer, I was able to own my own salon suite within 1 year of starting my business. This was the best decision I’ve ever made. The only regret I have was not starting sooner. I was also able to purchase my first home as well. I say this to say. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from chasing your dreams. Consistency is key. Manifesting works and include God in everything that you do.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In life, nothing is perfect, and as a new business owner, I’ve learned from my mistakes. It was challenging to obtain my business license and all the permits to operate in the state; however, I didn’t let that stop me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m confident enough to say that I take pride in my work. Being articulate and attention to detail is very important in this industry. Ombre powder brows and lip blushing has been very popular over the years. Too many people mistake this technique for microblading, and is not.
The services I provide are:
Henna brows which is a temporary stain which last approximately 4-14 days. I provide this service to allow my clients to trust me with their brows before committing to something permanent and to experience what their brow will look like if the decide to do the ombre powder brows.
Ombre Powder brows is a semi-permanent tattoo that last 1-3 years. It is done by implanting pigment with a single needle on the eyebrows to give it a powdery effect.
Lip Neutralization/Lip Blushing is implanting pigment in the lips to cancel out or neutralize the cool tones in the lips… multiple sessions are required for best results.
I also do offer private trainings as well

As a permanent makeup artist or any service base business, I believe that customer experience is the most important. I strive to provide the best customer experience I possibly can. Providing the best customer experience allows the client to understand you, your brand, and what you stand for.
