Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Skylar & I started our business because with both strongly believe in plant medicine and natural healing. Skylar found a need for cannabis at a young age after he had a back injury and the doctors wanted to put him on painkillers for the rest of his life. He decided to research it as best as he could and once, he found the benefits from this plant, he wanted to help others in need as well. After the legalization of cannabis, it put a lot of small businesses out, so we tried to think of a way to be able to still work with this plant and to continue to help others while still doing what we love. We found that hemp and CBD is a great alternative to cannabis and offers relief to many people including those sensitive to THC and that’s when we decided to start our business, PlantBased CBD. We chose the name because we wanted people to know that our products are 100% natural with no animal byproducts and no synthetic or mystery ingredients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road and with the stigma behind this plant, we did not expect it to be an easy one. From the beginning we cared a lot about having a 100% legal and honest business. We decided to get an LLC so that we could have a bank business account. It took us a long time to find one as a lot of banks did not want to work with us because we sell CBD products and to them it is a high-risk item. We also wanted to make sure we have insurance and the same thing happened, either companies did not want to work with us or charge us outrageous amounts to be covered. We stuck to it though and did not give up. We found a great bank that specifically works with CBD businesses and a local insurance company that has worked wonders for us! We also had the hurdles of following state regulations and made sure we have clean 3rd party tested lab results and are cGMP certified by the FDA.

With our business, PlantBased CBD, we pride ourselves on offering a safe alternative to other pain relievers and anti-anxiety medications. By doing so, we make sure to use the purest form of CBD along with other plant-safe ingredients. We offer a clean product that’s 3rd party tested in a lab and all of our products are made in a clean and sanitized facility. We highly believe in educating others about CBD and showing people the great benefits of this cannabinoid. We believe that CBD can aid people in living a healthier lifestyle by offering relief in the body from pain and relaxing the mind to bring balance overall. What sets us apart is our care and compassion for others. Almost everyone we meet has an ailment that they’re struggling with and we want to help those who could benefit from CBD to be on their way to living their best life.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Our favorite thing about the city is the endless amount of outdoor activities there are. The weather always makes for a nice day to be outside. We love the diversity and open-mindedness from the city as well. It’s great to meet so many different people!
A few of the cons I would say first is the homelessness. It’s definitely a problem and we hope to see improvement in that area in the future. I’d also have to say the lack of public transportation is a bit of a disappointment as well, especially with how bad traffic is and the impact of that many vehicles in one area to the environment. We believe public transportation could help that greatly!
