Hi Sonia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into mixology started behind the bar over a decade ago, where I fell in love with the artistry of crafting cocktails. As a first-generation Indian American, I grew up in a culture that celebrates food, drinks, and togetherness, which naturally shaped my approach to mixology. Traveling to different countries and experiencing unique flavors further contributed to my creativity, inspiring me to experiment with Indian ingredients in cocktails and mocktails.
Over time, I started sharing my creations online, which led to my social media account Sip with Soni. I want to make mixology more approachable, allowing people to create elevated drinks effortlessly.
Along the way, I won my very first mixology competition and even started working on an Indian-inspired cocktail book, blending tradition with modern mixology. My passion for customization and storytelling through flavors has also evolved into a new venture, developing a line of artisanal cocktail syrups that highlight Indian flavors in an innovative way.
My goal is to introduce people to unexpected flavor combinations, celebrate my heritage through cocktails, and create experiences that bring people together, just like I grew up with.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a fairly smooth road with some struggles. Along the way, I have faced a lot of self-doubt in moments when experiments with flavors or style didn’t turn out as expected or when struggling to grow a larger audience on social media.
Each opportunity I have received however, in hindsight, has become a stepping stone in my mixology journey that has not only strengthened my craft but has also helped me stay true to my vision.

I’m a mixologist and entrepreneur with a passion for blending global flavors. I specialize in reimagining traditional recipes by infusing them with unexpected spices and ingredients, creating a cocktail that’s both innovative and deeply rooted in cultural storytelling.
I’m most proud of winning the very first competition I ever participated in and that too with an Indian flavor-inspired cocktail. That win was a significant moment in my journey, validating my passion for blending traditional Indian ingredients with modern mixology techniques. It wasn’t just a personal win but also a celebration of cultural fusion. This experience motivated me to continue innovating in the cocktail space, inspiring me to create mixology experiences through Sip With Soni. Whether it’s through hands-on classes, tasting workshops, or my upcoming line of artisanal syrups, I hope to convey that same passion and prove that breaking boundaries in mixology can lead to extraordinary results.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe authenticity is the key to my success. Staying true to my cultural roots while experimenting with global flavors has allowed me to craft experiences that genuinely resonate with people. This commitment to authenticity is reflected in my creativity and drives me to push boundaries, whether it’s winning that very first competition with an Indian flavor-inspired cocktail or developing unique mixology experiences through Sip With Soni.
