Meet Steffi Seefeld of Connection University in Pacific Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steffi Seefeld.

Steffi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2019, I when doctors told me that abnormal cells on my cervix are growing, they only gave me one way to go: surgery. If not, radiation and chemo would be the only options soon. I listened to myself and what every they said didn’t resonate with me and it didn’t feel like healing. So I chose a way of alternatives that felt right for me, including a daily visualization meditation practice. And after one of those daily practices, out of nowhere, it was so clear to me: The red thread in my life and the one thing that I am here to do is the connection! All the modalities I have learned and practiced over the past decade and longer now merge into the project and gift of the Connection University, a platform for people all to create, to strengthen and to deepen the connections that matter to them most; with Self, with money, other people, sex, health, work,…

Since I left the business world and Berlin, Germany, with a burn out in my mid-20s, I became an international master coach, yoga teacher, and expressive arts therapist in San Diego. I often asked myself. How does this all make sense? I didn’t have an answer because I only saw the “Hows.” But since the healing process last year, I can clearly see the “What for”, and that excites me every day :). I had to slow down and let go to see clearly.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say the biggest struggles were not any pragmatics, but emotional. For me, they are the blocking believes I am not aware of yet. The ones that I am aware of are blocking until I find ways to incorporate them into my work and get over them. The ones that I can’t see yet are the ones that are holding me back and let me feel stuck at times. I would say the biggest one was the belief that I am not “good enough” for my parents, and that lead me into hiding some parts of me instead of sharing them with them. It created a gap that often caused disappointment on both ends. That is said, especially because we live 10.000 miles away from each other. But once I saw that I have that belief and that they have actually never signed up for that – there was a lot of clearing and room to express, to grow, to support, and love.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Connection University – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I believe that belonging is not a privilege. It is our birthright. The “Connection University” is an institution that facilitates transformation for people and teams to create what most of us are longing for deep, authentic connection that not only allows you to be who you really are but that celebrate you in all your forms and colors. This happens in in-person and virtual workshops for the community and in companies and in small group settings of individuals who are courageous enough to create a compassionate relationship with themselves because that is the relationship that determines how we relate to everyone everything else in life. I am proud of creating ways to bring turn my vision of a belonging culture into reality.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
So many. 🙂 Let’s start with the ones that are already in the making: The online class, “Arriving Home – Falling in love with Self,” has been improved and will soon launch as a 12-week class. This allows more time to deepen and to integrate for the attendees.

Due to the corona outbreak and its restrictions, we are going to offer Holiday Parties of Belonging – this is what the team needs after 3/4 of the year of loneliness and disconnection. This will improve the engagement and performance of the team again.

We will also go more into Consultancy for belonging and trust in teams and create epic keynote experiences once conferences are happening again – we got patience :). I also want to record another series of the Podcast “Consent is Sexy”. 🙂

On the wider outlook, the Connection University becomes a platform where people get to create their own curriculum from different facilitators and modules – like at a university – to study and deepen connections. This way, we not only offer a variety of classes but also create a growing audience for the facilitators and their expertise.
