Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Fransway.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Fashion has been a passion of mine all my life. I remember getting my first sewing machine and I got so excited I taught myself how to sew when I was nine. I began Art institute of California Orange County in 2012 and I wasn’t able to finish because I got pregnant.
I had my son and I didn’t have the time to give to school anymore I felt like I lost myself and was going into depression. I started drawing and painting and as I started putting more focus on that I started to feel like myself again. I now draw daily and I am also starting a store on my website for my art as well as the clothes that I rehabilitate to make cute and fashionable. I have been doing this for two years now and I am so happy I am trying to gain a following so that it could eventually turn into a career. I have been so blessed to find something that I love and am skilled at that I will do for the rest of my life.
Please tell us about your art.
I create fashion illustrations, though most of what I do are portraits I try to fit in accessories where I can. I do oil paintings as well as Digital Illustrations using my iPad pro and Procreate. I want people to enjoy my art and know that I have put my heart in every single piece I create.
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I believe it has become harder for artists because there is so much time, skill, dedication and love that goes into art. The people who don’t know what it has taken to get here, don’t think it is worth it. So those people want it at a discount or for free, I love it so much when people actually appreciate my work and understand that it is hard work to be creative and get the ideas from my head and put it down on the canvas.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have a website Fransway.net where you could find all my art and fashion as well as all my upcoming events. I also have social media Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr where I post my work.
