Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Grischuk.
Hi Stephen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I operate Box Creep Films! We make independent horror films. Guts, gore, and rubber chickens drench the screen in our films. I began making movies when I was a kid with a bunch of clay and a camera. I’d make little stop-motion animations or skate videos on VHS tape with my friends.
My love for horror was always present, and the ideas just kept coming, so I figured as an adult I’d dive in headfirst and make my very own horror films, and Box Creep Films was born!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The hardest part of what I do is scheduling people to get them all to show up at the same place at the same time. My projects are all low-budget endeavors, and getting people to show up for little money or as volunteers can be quite difficult. It’s a fun challenge though. I like seeing my friends, who are excited to make another project happen, show up with big smiles on their faces. We have tons of fun when we shoot.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Being an independent artist, I have to wear many hats. Now, as a kid, I had so many hobbies that I carried those skills over to my work! I use my musical knowledge as a bassist to help score my films; I use my ability to work in clay to make props and fx for my movies. Even skateboarding has helped me to get really cool shots and up my production value. I tap into my inner child as best I can to get creative and make whatever story I’m telling come to life.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
My new film coming out in the next month or so is called The Black Heart Collectors club, and you can see the trailer on YouTube or our Instagram page. I believe it to be our most blood-soaked wild ride yet. I can’t wait for people to see it!
Then, I begin production on my haunted house I build every year. Always something cool going on here at Box Creep Films.
Pricing:
- Our films are 20 dollars, but in October, we are going to have a sale!
