Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Amstadt
Hi Steven, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had always found fitness and exercise as a fun thing to do. Fast forward to 20 years in sales/project management in the specialty construction industry, I was eager and needing to find and ignite a passion within my career. I had come to a point where I wasn’t so much focused on climbing a corporate ladder or increasing my commission checks, I wanted to do more for people and their health to allow them to live the best life possible. I found myself researching and made the leap to become a Personal Trainer and obtained my PT Certification through NASM. I continue to seek additional certifications and become a trusted advisor for people and their fitness goals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Since I had left my prior career there was no clear path on what I was going to do. I never thought I could make a living out of fitness but it turns out it was because I was so focused on my other career it didn’t allow me to see outside my blinders. I was unemployed for a few months until I was able to get a sales job for a specialized fitness studio. I still had doubts if I had made the right choice but I continued following what made me happy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love helping people reach their fitness goals – the gym can be a very intimidating place but there are some fundamentals I feel like everyone should understand and learn. I’m most proud of the certifications I’ve earned with my specializations in Functional Strength and Corrective Exercise. I feel like we could all move better and I am my own student that continually tries to grow and stays up to date with the latest on the industry.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Never quit – it’s cliche, but you can see the difference in people who give up in the gym and those who continue to put the time in. They MAKE time and learn to manage their habits for the better.
