I founded Gemini Finance Corp. in 2012, as a way to provide unique financing solutions to local high growth companies and entrepreneurs. In general, we provide secured business loans to growing companies to help them through cash crunches, like a seasonal inventory build-up or to fulfill a large purchase order. To date, we have funded over 200 separate transactions and invested almost $30 million locally.
I saw that growing entrepreneurial businesses that required capital for growth, were being rejected by the banks and forced to give up large chunks of equity at low valuations. This disturbed me because, as an entrepreneur myself, I recognize the potential long-term value of building businesses.
We set out to fix this dislocation in the market by providing short-term, flexible financing solutions, that preserve the equity of the business for the founders. It’s very rewarding for us when we can help a company get to the next level of success. A typical borrower starts with us at under $1 million in annual revenue, and we can help them get to $5 million or more.
We have been involved with many different San Diego industries such as action sports companies (surf, skate & ski), sports recovery equipment, apparel, health and beauty products, wine and spirits, and even audio equipment.
Has it been a smooth road?
Our business is pretty simple we give people money and then we hope they give it back to us! We proved very quickly that people will take money from us; and thankfully, they also give it back regularly!
More seriously, we do our due diligence and our entire team has strong finance backgrounds. We meet all of our borrowers in person and try to establish a real relationship with them, It’s important to us that we work with good, honest people.
There have of course been some struggles and bumps in the road, but fortunately, those experiences have been few and far between. Communication is key. We want to be kept in the loop when things are going well and when there might be challenges. Oftentimes we can help the entrepreneur solve her problem because we have seen it all before.

I am most proud that Gemini Finance Corp. has developed into a boutique firm that can view each entrepreneur individually. We custom tailor a creative financing solution that specifically fits the needs of each situation. We always look for a mutually beneficial solution. There is no cookie cutter approach with us.

I really like the entrepreneurial spirit of our city. People still come here looking for the California dream and have a great love of life, the ocean and the outdoors.
