Today we’d like to introduce you to Suher Haidar.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Suher. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Being a wedding planner for many years has taught me a valuable lesson of what works and what doesn’t. We all measure our level of success in different ways. For me, it was the quality of work and the people I surround myself with. So, I started Refined by Suher to help the newcomers in the wedding industry to connect. (Refining the way we connect). We are so consumed by the amount of followers, likes and clicks that we have forgotten the valuable concept of face to face connections.
For the past year, I have attempted to go to almost every network event and I took a step back and observed. It was an eye-opener! Many saw these network events as a reason to hang out with a couple people they already knew. So, I approached a few random guests at different network events and every one said the same thing… ” I really want to meet_____” Their AHA person. They didn’t know how to go about it. So, I decide to be a super connector and fast forward a year, Refined was created. I will be offering workshops once a month with guest speakers. Helping others create that connecting bond with the best in town and educating guests on what works and what doesn’t. This in turn with give everyone the confidence to take that extra step, to be more social, and most importantly, to value them selves and take the next plunge into expanding their business horizons.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a super bumpy road. Many mistakes, many ” what was I thinking ” moments. BUT, some of us have to take the bad to appreciate the good. It takes so much time and dedication to start something that has never been done before. Who do you trust and if everyone gives their two cents… do you listen?? My vision is still a work in progress and I feel that in everything we do, we learn as we go. I have a few friends in the industry that are so informative and have taught me so much. Teaching me to value myself, to be a better version of myself and to trust my gut instinct.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Refined By Suher story. Tell us more about the business.
Refined is going to be a monthly workshop that will educate newcomers, those who are wanting to rebrand themselves and the few that need that push in their career. I am also working on ” work sesh”. This idea came about recently when I would gather with a few friends at coffee shops, restaurants and work on our computers all day… feed on each other and help each other creatively. I have spoken to over 20 “Instagramable” cafes and locations all around San Diego and up to the Carlsbad area. Anyone that goes to my site and added their name to their local work sesh to CONNECT with others at these locations will get freebies. Such as coffee for the day, or apps for lunch. ETC.
My one on one sessions with clients will focus more on how to market themselves. Working on their super connectors and a network calendar that works best for their career path. ( What events to offer their services depending on demographics of the guests at the network events). ETC. I am teaming up with The Knot, Creative Clique, and many other companies to offer their services IF it’s in their marketing future.
I feel that what I am offering has never been done before, or never been done the way I am offering. I must say that I am known for being the life of the party. The one that knows everyone and helps everyone. There is so much business and wealth to be shared and I’m ready to start something unique in San Diego and hopefully nationwide.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have been a true believer that everything happens for a reason and without all that bad luck, I would have never reached where I am right now. It just makes you more aware and stronger as a human. Trusting your gut instinct is THE BEST, THE ULTIMATE advice I can offer anyone. If there is a doubt, then figure that doubt before it consumes you. I have also had the best luck ever. Two amazing boys that have taught me that I need to throw my hands in the air and just go with it… be silly, be unique and never quit. I do this for them. Now and forever!
