Thanks for sharing your story with us Susan and Kasey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We started Ohana Soaps as a way to make healthy alternatives to the commercially made, chemical-filled products on the market. Our goal is to make products that are good for your skin. Soap and body products that the whole family can enjoy.
We started making small batches of soaps for family and friends. Products using oils to add moisture while leaving you feeling soft and clean. After receiving positive feedback and requests for more we decided to take our products the road and began selling at local farmers markets.
We wanted products that would be something everyone could enjoy. Beautiful soaps with fun names and colorful swirls of color. Fun family soaps Like Monkey Farts, a colorful banana and fruit fragranced soap, Ferocious Beast a wonderfully fragrant masculine soap, the name, a shout out to our local military. Floral soaps like Hawaiian Plumeria Soap or White gardenia.
We started receiving requests for soaps that can be used as scrubs, or others that would good for acne. We soon realized that we needed to expand our product line. We added in Face bars made with Sea salts. Soaps with activated charcoal and Scrubby soaps with blueberry seeds and Pumice bars.
We now produce Lotions that are rich and creamy with vitamin E, Lip balms to soften and moisturize, Bubble bath for children and adult-like our pink fairy dust and our green zombie dust. Bath bombs made with Lavender essential oils to relieve the stress after a long day at work. as well as many other fragrances. We also make wonderful all natural face masks and floral rose water…
We are so grateful to local San Diego customers who helped build our company through their support and referrals to their friends and family. Because of the opportunity, they provided we were able to open our web store OhanaSoaps.com and start selling across this great country.
We have been approached by local salons and stores and large corporations to provide our products to their patrons.
As we continue to grow the one constant is to make quality products that are good for your skin. We believe that our customers are our greatest asset and will always strive to make the best products for them. We are always available for any feedback or suggestion they offer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road. I have learned that when it comes to social media and website building I still have a lot to learn. But I am learning. We have recently started listing products on Amazon but I have a long way to go till we list all of our products. And because we are a small company dividing our time between manufacturing and production is sometimes a struggle.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ohana Soaps story. Tell us more about the business.
Ohana Soaps is a small family owned business. We specialize in bath and body products that use healthy ingredients that are made to love your skin. We always choose natural ingredients first that have benefits for your skin or added vitamins and minerals. If we use a fragrance instead of Essential oils we only use Phalate free fragrances.
Our customers know they are getting quality products with out fillers or harsh chemical and can feel comfortable knowing that they are safe for their family.
Our biggest selling items are our soaps and lotions but I have had customers drive out from orange county, to pick up our lip balms. We can always be found at the Oceanside sunset market on Thursday nights. Whenever we debut a new product it can be found at the night market. We have found that this gives us direct feed back from our customers. We find this interaction gives us valuable input to current market trends and allows us the opportunity to provide products that meet and exceed our customers expectations.
I am proud that our company chooses to always put our customers needs first. Because of this, when a customer orders online we always include a personal thank you note and a small gift. We want our customers to know that they are important to us and we appreciate that they have chosen to use order from us. For that we are grateful.
