Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzanne Rey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Suzanne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been an animal advocate for many years and volunteer at rescue events, fostered rescues and I recently adopted 2 rescued Great Pyrenees.
Because of my love of animals I wanted to do more, so I started 2 e-commerce stores to support local rescues. Here are links to my stores:

I donate a percentage of every sale to a number of different nonprofit rescue groups in Southern CA.
And, for 25 years, I have also been Managing Partner/CEO at Rey Edwards Inc., an executive search firm that specializes in renewable energy and real estate development/Construction. www.ReyEdwards.com
My search firm allows me to pursue my passion for helping to save at risk pets from high kill shelters.
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t know of anyone who can say they sailed through starting a business. There are always challenges and strategic decisions to be made.
With my executive search business, I have had reinvent myself more than once. Most recently when the recession hit in 2008, I lost all my real estate development clients. Businesses were closing their doors and the mortgage crisis devastated the building industry for years.
My online stores have also been a challenging learning experience but worth every minute. Learning to grow an e-commerce business can be daunting and mastering Facebook and Instagram advertising is an on-going challenge as the rules keep changing with social media.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
With my executive search business I have specialized in placing executive level talent in the building industry (real estate development, land development, and construction) for over 25 years. For the last 8 years I focused on the clean tech, and renewable energy space. And, now that the building industry is on the mend I am working with a number of real estate development clients again as well.
I am most proud of my reputation for trustworthiness, integrity and my standing in the communities and clients I serve. I have never been motivated by money, but by performing at the highest level for my clients and customers.
With my e-commerce stores, I am proud and passionate to be supporting the rescue community. And I believe what sets my stores apart from others is the original artwork and creativity that has gone into the clothes and products I sell. Such as pillows designed from paintings and photography, many of which were designed by me.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
With the connectivity we have in this day and age, one could literally start a business from anywhere, but what better place to do so than San Diego!
I have lived in San Diego for 37 years and have seen a boom in so many industries from construction to high tech!
It’s not only a beautiful city to live in but I believe it is a wonderful place to start a business as well. It has been very good to me.
