Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Judge.
Hi Sydney, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
After graduating from SDSU and working for a few years in a sales career that I didn’t want, I moved to London in 2005 to pursue a career in the fashion industry. I started out interning at various brands, meeting all the right people, which turned into a full-time job doing in-house fashion public relations and events for a luxury accessories brand. It really was my dream job, taking me to Paris Fashion Week twice a year and planning fabulous events. In 2008 my boyfriend (now husband) and I decided to move to NYC to continue furthering our careers, and we lived and worked in the city for 3 years before deciding to move back to California. I was offered a job with Stella McCartney heading up her celebrity styling and events for the West Coast, and I absolutely fell in love with dressing clients and getting them the perfect look for events. Once I had my first son, I decided it was time to start my own business in personal styling, and the rest is history. I’ve been lucky enough to run my business StyledbySyd for the last 10 years 100% referral based. Recently, I’ve also added Wardrobe stylist to my resume, dressing models and actors for commercial lifestyle campaigns all over the West Coast.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is nothing glamourous about working in the Fashion Industry. The finished product is always beautiful, but so many people are working long hard hours to make it all happen. I have many steamer scars from over the years! But working on your own business comes with a different set of challenges altogether. There were a lot of late-night revisions and free client styling to get my style offerings just right.

I am a transformational wardrobe stylist. I help people look and feel their best by investing in the right wardrobe for their lifestyle and body type. I work with the client one on one through a series of meetings to help them define their style, edit their closet, shop for their new wardrobe, and style numerous outfits for all of life’s occasions. I am an expert at sifting through all the fashion noise and finding the perfect brands and styles for each person. Each wardrobe transformation is different, and I absolutely love seeing the look of sheer joy and confidence on my client’s faces when they step into their new looks. Not to mention shopping for the right pieces takes time and a lot of work, and I love doing this for my clients so that they can focus on what they do best. When a client hires me to curate their new wardrobe, they don’t have to worry about the stress of never having the right thing to wear. After they work with me, they will always have something stylish to wear hanging right in their closet. I am not just buying them a few outfits; I am transforming their entire wardrobe.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I am very authentic and passionate about my work. People chose me because I am real, easy to work with, and know my stuff! My process is very customized to each individual – I always go above and beyond to get it right, and now I offer a sweet new style software that gives my clients access to their digital wardrobe and all the outfits I have created for them on their phone. It is a really valuable tool to use.
