Meet Sydney Seligman of Blissed Out Spa in Temecula

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Seligman.

Sydney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I opened up Blissed Outback in 2019, I was 20 years old and everyone told me why I shouldn’t start a business so young but I didn’t listen. I opened Blissed Out because I loved making my clients feel valued. I loved taking my time with each client and making them feel heard. I took it upon myself to learn how to deal with ethnic skin, most of my clients are Black people and POC and being multi-racial myself, I realized how much that was lacking in my area. I love skin, I love extracting and I love making people feel confident in their own skin.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being so young has been one of the main obstacles, hearing “you’re too young” almost everyday and still pushing forward. I’ve felt like giving up at times and I never once quit. I had to leave my spas last location, and with that closing, I felt like I completely failed. Getting myself out of that funk took a lot of time and trial and error, and I’m still learning from it, but I found a way to make working as an Esthetician from homework.

We’d love to hear more about Blissed Out Spa.
I specialize in extractions and customized facials. There’s nothing I love more than a nice blackhead. Talking time to learn about different skin types has been beneficial not only for myself but for my clients as well because often times, we aren’t taught about ethnic skin in school. Blissed Out is all about the client, their wants and needs. I like to consider myself an on-call Esthetician, because I’m constantly in touch with clients from all over at this point, finding products for them, walking them through a skincare routine, helping them put together a skincare routine, whatever they need I’m there for them.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Patience, the ability to keep educating myself and to never stop learning. Just because I’m a licensed professional doesn’t mean I’m done learning new information.
