I’ve always believed the best moments in life happen around something shared. A bowl of popcorn, a good movie, a laugh that lingers. Popsmith began with that simple joy. I wanted to take something nostalgic and familiar and make it feel special again. Beautiful enough to live on your counter, built well enough to last for generations, and designed to make people smile every time it pops.
What started as a personal passion project to reimagine the stovetop popcorn maker has grown into a brand that celebrates slowing down, savoring, and sharing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a straight path. Bringing a new product into the world always looks easier from the outside than it really is. We went significantly over budget on engineering and industrial design because we refused to compromise on quality or craft. The Popsmith Popper had to be beautiful, functional, and built to last, which meant every detail took time and precision.
And then there’s the part people don’t always talk about—the cost of introducing something completely new. Educating customers, building awareness, creating content that tells the story of why this popper is different. It was all far more expensive and complex than I expected. But every challenge taught us something, and in the end, it made Popsmith stronger and more intentional as a brand.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Focus, patience, hard work, and self-love. Those have been the keys for me. It’s easy to romanticize entrepreneurship, but most days it’s a mix of hard work and learning to give yourself grace when things take longer or cost more than you expected.
I’ve learned that staying focused on the mission—creating something joyful and lasting—is what gets you through the challenges. And having love for yourself along the way makes the whole journey more meaningful.
