Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Ramirez.
Taylor, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been a licensed hair stylist since 2010. I have always had a passion for the beauty industry. I am the third generation of hair stylists in my family. My grandfather was a barber and my mother is still working behind the chair. After cosmetology school, I had the pleasure of assisting my mom at Bella Dia Salon and Day Spa in Buena Park, CA and after a few months, I was hired on as a commission stylist. After about a year of working there, I decided to venture out on my own in 2011 that’s where I found a new salon that had just opened Salon Technique in Fullerton CA. I worked as an independent contractor there for four years. I wanted to experience life to its fullest and reach my full potential as a hairstylist so I packed up and moved to San Diego where I became part of an incredible team at Re:vive salon and spa. While I worked hard to build a new clientele I still went up to Orange County one Saturday a month and worked on clients, and I did that for two years. Not only was I an educator for the salon assistant program, but I also won sales competitions two years in a row where I was able to travel internationally to Dublin, Ireland, and Copenhagen, Denmark where I attended the Loreal Professionnel Global Experience! I am also an educator for Unite and was recently part of the NYFW hair team!
After four years, I decided to fulfill a dream that I have had since I was a little girl and that is to own a salon. So, after lots of hard work and dedication and nine years in the industry. At 27 years old, I am the proud owner of PLUSH Hair Studio established October 2018!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road. Lots of late nights and weekends but my clients are all so amazing, it has been worth every minute!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the PLUSH Hair Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
PLUSH Hair Studio welcomes all! “Be your own kind of beautiful” is our motto! Friendly vibe and positive energy is what we strive for! I specialize in blondes but I have a wide variety of clientele. Color, cutting, highlights, men’s cuts, extensions, balayage, bridal hair/weddings, up styling, you name it!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not so sure luck has to do with it. I’m a believer in “hard work pays off.” It’s all about passion, as long as you have passion, you will be successful.
