Today we’d like to introduce you to Tennessee Tina.
Tennessee, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After spending a lot of time singing at random karaoke bars for money on Beale St in Memphis, Tn (my hometown), I craved another outlet to express myself. I joined a three-piece band which consisted of a guitarist and a DJ with me on vocals/songwriting. Between the warehouse party gigs with that band and performing at gay clubs with my friends, I was able to learn the ins and out of entertaining.
After moving to San Diego, I did what every aspiring songwriter would do. I bought a Talyor guitar, taught myself a few chords and a found a few stages to play.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Anything worth pursuing is worth the struggle! Teaching myself how to play guitar has been challenging and rewarding.
Please tell us about what you do.
I write, produce, and perform original music. Creating my stage name was pretty simple and straight forward. I will always preface by saying I’m the other Tina from Tennessee. Tina Turner will always be the queen.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t believe in regrets.
