Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Adibi.
Tiffany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been a visionary enthusiast for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I went to performing arts schools, and I always explored different mediums. At the age of fourteen, I discovered the world of makeup, and I completely fell in love. By age fifteen, I was self-taught, working with a fashion photographer, shooting several times a month, and had my work published in local fashion magazines, such as COCO and Unallied. Throughout high school, I was always doing makeup for all of the school dances and special events. Over the years, this transitioned into graduations, weddings, and other major life events. Being able to make such a positive impact on someone’s big day is truly the best feeling, and one of the many reasons why I am so passionate about what I do.
I became a certified Makeup Artist in 2014 by Glam Lab Studios in Los Angeles, California and celebrity makeup artist Simon Rihana. After receiving my certification, I continued on to pursue my passion in many different areas of the beauty industry, such as mobile artistry, artistry under Too Faced Cosmetics, and lots of freelance work. Next, I furthered my education at American Beauty Institute to become a licensed esthetician. With this license I was able to expand my services, leading me to my next found passion, eyelash extensions. After realizing how much I loved working in that area of the industry, having closer client relationships, and having clients leave so genuinely happy, I decided I wanted to take the next step further and get certified in microblading. I trained at Deluxe Brows Academy in San Diego, and the transformation I am now able to offer clients through that service is incredible.
Saying that the beauty industry is a tough one to work in is an understatement. The industry is very competitive and completely saturated. Much of my work, in the beginning, was done for free, and it took years to gain credibility as an artist. I worked so many different types of jobs before I got where I am today, many of which I knew were just stepping stones. There were definitely times I thought of making it a side job and pursuing something else as a career. However, I knew this was all I could truly see myself doing for the rest of my life. My passion and drive kept me focused on my goals throughout it all. Last year, I opened a location for Glamour by Tiffany, and I can honestly say that every ounce of effort I put in leading up to that moment was worth it. They say, “If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life.” Well, that’s exactly how I feel; I am truly living the dream.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say the biggest challenge that arose for me throughout this journey, was when I was deciding whether or not to quit my job, open my own location, and work for myself. I didn’t see a long term future or room for growth with the company I was currently working for, and I felt like I was stuck in a toxic environment. However, I was extremely nervous to go out on my own, with no clientele base to follow me, and no guarantee that everything was going to work out. I pondered the idea back and forth almost every day, unhappy with my current situation, but deep down knowing that I could probably change my life with just that leap of faith. I was told, “build the business and the people will come.” That really resonated with me. With so much love and support from my friends and family, I gained the courage to dive in head first, and trust that the universe had my back. It was the best decision I have ever made, and I so happy with where I am today.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Glamour by Tiffany – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Glamour by Tiffany specializes in beauty services such as makeup artistry, eyelash extensions, and microblading. I feel that I am most proud of my ability to really understand what my clients are looking for and deliver. It seems that there are a lot of artists out there that don’t take the time to get that deep understanding, and they just go for whatever they want to do rather than what their client wants them to do. I also pride myself in my belief that less is more. There are so many ways to enhance someone’s natural beauty without caking on their makeup, making them look like a totally different person, and making them uncomfortable because they don’t feel themselves either. The same goes for eyelash extensions. I make sure that my extensions are applied only in a healthy way that can be supported by the natural lash. We’ve all heard horror stories of girls who got their extensions removed and had nothing left underneath, well, not with Glamour by Tiffany!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future definitely include expansion, as well as a Glamour by Tiffany team. I would love to be able to provide my trusted services at a wider range around San Diego and possibly even other cities!
