Meet Ting Ma of San Diego, Chicago

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ting Ma

Hi Ting, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I’m Ting, a 54-year-old content creator based in Chicago and San Diego, where I live with my husband. I often visit our two adult sons who live in different states. My journey in the United States began when I pursued a master’s degree in hospitality. After dedicating myself to raising our sons, I returned to the workforce five years ago as a full-time content creator. What started with people stopping me on the street to ask about my outfits has evolved into a career where I challenge stereotypes in the youth-obsessed world of content creation. In an industry where being my age can sometimes feel like a barrier, I have chosen to share my journey of embracing aging naturally—without makeup or filters. My goal is to normalize aging for women and show that beauty doesn’t fade with time but evolves. To my surprise, this message has resonated with people of all ages, from 18 to 70. I’ve received heartfelt messages from younger women who feel less afraid of aging, even when they’re told they’ll be less desirable after 30. Women in midlife have shared that they’ve stopped dyeing their gray hair or getting Botox treatments because of my content. Despite being an introvert, I’ve been amazed to learn that my story as an “average mom next door” could inspire so many. I share my authentic thoughts on fashion, beauty, and aging across two Instagram accounts (@tingmystyle @50plusdaily ), TikTok (@tingmystyle) Facebook (@50plusdaily) and YouTube (@50plusdaily). Some of my content has reached over 26 million views. Recently, I learned that I’ve reached over 1.1 million people across all my channels. This number has shown me that so many women out there want to embrace aging naturally and beautifully. At the end of the day, every woman should have the freedom to decide how she wants to age—there’s no right or wrong way to do it. A woman’s naturally aged face should be championed just as much as a flawless one. Do what makes you feel happy and confident, because that’s what truly matters.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road—it’s been bumpy, to say the least. When you challenge outdated societal rules, like the idea that women should “dress for their age” or that a woman’s prime ends at 50, you’ll inevitably face pushback. For me, that’s come in the form of constant trolling about how I choose to dress or embrace my natural gray hair or naturally aged face.

What’s even more disheartening is that much of this criticism comes from other women—some of whom are highly educated. The way women’s bodies, appearances, and clothing choices are policed, often by other women, is exhausting.

But here’s the thing—I genuinely don’t care what the trolls think of me. If just one of my posts inspires another woman to feel good about aging naturally and to embrace her journey without fear, then I’ve achieved my goal. At the end of the day, it’s about empowering others to live authentically, not conforming to outdated norms. I think a woman’s naturally aged face should be championed as much as a flawless one.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a full-time content creator, and my work is all about authenticity. I specialize in creating content that genuinely reflects my mood, my thoughts, and my life as it is—no filters, no pretense. I’ve become known as the woman who isn’t afraid to show her bare face, free of makeup or filters. That said, I do wear makeup sometimes, but I do it purely for myself, not to meet anyone else’s expectations.

What I’m most proud of is that, after spending over two decades as a stay-at-home mom raising two wonderful boys, I was able to transition into a career that fulfills me on a personal and creative level. And let me say this: being a stay-at-home mom is one of the greatest jobs in the world. There’s no need to fear isolation or worry that you’ll be left behind by society if you dedicate yourself to raising your kids. Those years were some of the most precious in my life, even if I didn’t realize it at the time. Enjoy every moment, because kids grow up so fast. Plus, I should feel so lucky that I had the luxury to spend time with my kids. There are moms who work tirelessly outside the home to support their families, and their strength and dedication are equally admirable.

Once my kids were grown, I explored different paths to find what truly fulfilled me. I tried learning computer languages, becoming a realtor, teaching Mandarin, and more before I discovered my passion for content creation. That journey taught me that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself or pursue something new.

What sets me apart is my commitment to staying authentic and using my platform to inspire others—especially women—to embrace their natural selves and find their own path in life, no matter what stage they’re in. also run another Instagram channel called 50plusdaily, where I share fitness tips to help women feel and look good at any age. I believe that when we take good care of our body and mind, we feel good about ourselves, and that inner confidence radiates outward. No amount of cosmetic work can make a woman feel truly confident if she doesn’t shine from within.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is about living authentically and feeling fulfilled in what I do. It’s not about achieving society’s conventional milestones or seeking validation from others—it’s about aligning my work, my passions, and my personal values. Success means having the courage to embrace who I am, flaws and all, and inspiring others to do the same.
Success is also about balance. After years of raising my boys and being fully present as a stay-at-home mom, I now find fulfillment in taking care of myself—mentally, physically, and creatively. Whether it’s through sharing my fitness tips on 50plusdaily, helping women feel good about their bodies, or simply leading by example, I believe success radiates from within when we take care of ourselves and live with purpose.

Ultimately, success is finding joy in the journey, embracing the ups and downs, and staying true to yourself every step of the way.
