Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexya See.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Fashion Fiends SDSU Started when I realized that there was nothing and nowhere on-campus fashion related and I realized I could do something about it. The organization is meant to be a safe place for creative students who are interested in fashion or anything surrounding it. This includes design and creation as well as modeling, makeup, photography, and social media which is why there will be a PR committee specializing in teaching students the ins and outs of networking and building a brand with social media. And as for how I’ve gotten where I am today, I wouldn’t be here without the continuous support from those around me and those in the organization as well. I can’t thank them enough.
Has it been a smooth road?
Yes, for the most part because this was an idea I had for a while. The main struggle I faced was balancing two jobs, school, and starting my own organization from the ground up. Taking on that big responsibility was more than I expected at first, but I knew I was doing this for more than just myself, and I knew I had people counting on me, so I had to do what needed to be done to get things going. For my ladies: life is short. Really short. Make sure you’re living life for yourself. Make sure you’re chasing your happiness the same way you’re chasing your money. Take self-care days. Love yours.
We’d love to know more about you and Fashion Fiends and what makes you both stand out.
I specialize in design and styling. I’m constantly thinking of things to create and put together for myself as well as others. I’m known for being pretty fly lol. I pay huge attention to detail and I feel like it shows through my clothes. As a brand, the organization is just starting off but we’re already setting a precedent for our creativity and originality. The organization is filled with talented and creative individuals so I’m excited to see what we will create. Personally, I feel like what sets me apart from others is my mindset. I’ve always felt like I was a few steps ahead mentally. As far as fashion I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I don’t have a particular way I dress or a set style. My closet has a little bit of everything. I just dress how I feel.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
Apple Music. That’s the one. Music gets me through a lot of things. I mostly listen to R&B and very mellow songs unless I’m going out. I like to feel mellow and at peace and that helps me do that. I don’t particularly like to read because I took AP classes in high school and we were forced to read certain books, so that really deterred me from it haha. I prefer to paint or draw or try on future outfits I can wear out somewhere lol. And sometimes, I just like to lay down. I’m always doing something so being able to just relax sometimes is nice.
