Meet Trailblazer Alysse Asaro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysse Asaro.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My life was “Instagram perfect.” I had a successful career, a dreamy husband, a cute golden retriever and was living in one of the most incredible cities in the U.S.

Except when I looked in the mirror I hated what I saw reflecting back at me.

The truth: I was 40 pounds overweight, my marriage was lacking emotional & physical intimacy, I had moved from San Diego to Nashville and was dying to get back to San Diego. I was constantly dreaming of a reality that was not my own.

My happiness was dependent on what people thought of me.

I actually do not remember a time in my life (dating back to 4th grade) where my happiness wasn’t dependent on a guy.

At first I thought it was just the exterior that I wasn’t proud of.

I eagerly told myself “If I just lose _______ pounds then I will be happy.”

Wrong.

I was constantly online shopping for things that hung in my closet, unworn, for months.

I stuffed myself until I was physically ill.

I over compensated for my negative self worth issues by being the “life of the party.”

I did this for so long, I convinced myself I was fulfilled.

I wasn’t.

My days were predictable. Go to work, come home, watch tv, go to bed. My weekends consisted of figuring out where I could have drinks with my friends. Not saying there is anything wrong with the above pattern. It just wasn’t fulfilling me.

I knew something had to change.

So, I started working out, moved back to San Diego, got a new job, separated from my marriage and began my journey to self-love.

It was during this time that a couple of my closest friends began distancing themselves from me.

I felt alone, confused, uncomfortable, sad and my family was convinced I was crazy.

It was in my breakdown where my break through occurred.

I prayed. I meditated. I journaled. There were a lot of isolated months where I went in and out of massive empowerment and crippling sorrow.

I picked up every emotional intelligence or self help book and podcast I could get my hands on.

I surrounded myself with people that saw my light, and allowed my to be my authentic self. I began experiencing breakthroughs. I realized the role I played in the life that I had created. I stepped out of being a victim and into taking responsibility.

I didn’t realize this at the time but I was growing.

In doing “the work.” I went to seminars, started therapy, went to church, and joined emotional intelligence trainings.

My family was convinced that I had joined a cult..

I just kept moving forward.

I was transforming my mindset, my interests, and was going from living a superficial, surface level life to a deeply connected and vision driven life.

Slowly, my family and friends started to notice. They started saying “you have really changed” “you are so enjoyable” “you have grown so much.”

It felt so good. For the first time I was truly loved for being my authentic self.

I had finally attracted the career I wanted, the relationships that I craved and was living a healthier, and more positive life.

That’s when I decided to launch a lifestyle brand.

So many people along the way were watching my journey and I had no idea.

I knew that there were more women like me that were unhealthy, overweight, in relationships that lacked intimacy, afraid to be alone, and etc, etc.

I created The Positivity Babe for them.

The Positivity Babe is a transformational lifestyle brand that will give you the skills, products, habits, and material to get out of your own way and step into the life that you have always wanted.

As I grow, the brand grows.

The difference between the girl I was and the woman I am today is that I am now operating from a place of love. I am no longer a victim. When I fall on my face, I turn in and look at what I did to cause it and there is usually a lesson there.

I am still learning. I am still making mistakes. I am still growing, so this story is forever to be continued..

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This road could not be bumpier.

The biggest struggles for me were losing a couple of my closest friends, being afraid of being alone, not feeling enough, wanting to throw in the towel and just “go back to my old life” etc.

I think that is normal.

The advice I have for anyone experiencing something similar is to identify a few mentors. Find people that are doing what you want to be doing, in relationships that you want to be in, and overall living a lifestyle that you want to live.

Follow their journey.

That’s what kept me going a lot of the time.

Everyone that I looked up to experienced all of the same things and they were where I wanted to be.

It gave me confidence during the struggle that I was on the right path, it still does.

We’d love to hear more about The Positivity Babe.
