Meet Trailblazer Angela Danielle Deocampo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Danielle Deocampo.

Angela Danielle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Moving from the Bay Area to San Diego was not the best experience in the beginning. I left my childhood friends and all of my cousins and relatives. Attending a new middle school & being bullied did not make it any easier either. It made me lose sight of who I was and who I wanted to become. The pressure of “making money” in a ‘successful’ chosen career was a constant scream in my ear and the comparisons made to others made it even worse. You can only imagine where my self-esteem went. I later then moved down to South San Diego & attended Eastlake High School.

When I graduated, I pursued between ANY and ALL types of education within the medical field-name it, I tried it. I knew it wasn’t me. I had a friend who would always casually tell me to do what I’m passionate about- not what others expect of me. That friend became my husband. Knowing he had always followed his passion himself and never cared what others thought of him are one of the things I love most about him. So, I thought… being a consistent shopper/makeup lover that I am and the person who was always asked if I can do their hair or makeup-all I knew was this is what makes me happy. So, I went to Cosmo School & got a job at MAC Cosmetics.

Since then, the constant learning & drive doesn’t stop. The way I’ve grown as a person/artist and learned through other artists and training has been the most beneficial towards my career & who I’ve become in this industry.

Besides pursuing what we love, we’re raising four beautiful kids of our own and man, it is the hardest job of all yet the most rewarding. Being a working mom intertwines with everything I do- from working hard to support their wants/needs, working my passion to inspire them, having the ability to schedule around them – its all have been falling into place just the way I’ve dreamed & talked about. Don’t get me wrong, there are those days it gets stressful. But hey, that’s life! If God brings you to it; He will bring you through it.

Everything I’ve gone through definitely has made me the person I am today & it has been the most humbling.
I have a growing clientele in the wedding/beauty industry, a healthy family, an amazing husband – it’s my biggest blessings, I am forever grateful.

They say your stylist/artist is like your personal psychologist – to us women at least – the opportunity to connect with a person in any way and the opportunity to make them feel great not only on the inside but the outside as well gives me a gratifying feeling & I wouldn’t change a thing.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Something worth the struggle is never easy but the light at the end of the tunnel is absolutely a rewarding feeling & a breath of fresh air. Looking back at everything I’ve gone through, as cliche as it may sound, I really wouldn’t be the woman I am today without every good & bad experience. I have a thicker skin than I used to have, I have a mindset to persevere through anything that comes my way & the motivation to be a better me, not only for myself but for my family. I don’t know what & who I’d be without them. There will always be that little bump you have to hop over.

One particular struggle I’m currently going through is having the TIME to juggle it ALL. I’m sure it can be a variety of things with others but me in particular, when I want to do something, I want to wait for the right time to put in all my focus to make sure I have all the time to make it perfect. But all the moms know there never is enough time in a day to do everything you’d like to do. I’m continually prioritizing what’s important for each hour, each day & each week. The timeline is always crazy but I have to remind myself that as long as I tackle it one by one when I can- it’ll be done the best I can. so it’s ok if the laundry doesn’t get done for a week: x lol!

For young women – find reason, meaning & truth behind what you choose to do & be kind doing it. You really never know who & what you’ll come across that will make a huge pavement for your path. Every negative experience is a blessing, trust the process, learn the lesson & move from it- its the only way out & up.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Angela Danielle – what should we know?
Although I started going to school for hair, I still love styling hair. However, my current love as of now is makeup. I love the fact that I have a different canvas-face shape, skin color, skin type. Tell me you want a full glam look or a natural look-done. There’s so much that goes into the process, the result is beautifying. It’s my take on your features & wants to your daily look enhanced into one.

My skill is not all because of me, it’s because of my clients who trust me for their one special day or event, it’s because of that other artist who taught me how to improve or what they think may be better. That’s really how my brand was made – because of a supportive community & positive surroundings I chose to be around. I never want anyone to feel less than they are & I feel like that’s what sets me apart. It’s not just a job or just another face. Everyone has their own situation why they sit in my chair & I wish the best for you as I would wish the best for myself & I’m most proud of that.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
The most influential is my Grandma. No matter what she went through- she continues to have the biggest heart for others which I feel it’s where I’ve gotten mine. Her commitment, fight, and strength for herself, her husband, her daughters, and grandchildren is something I hold high of her and hope to be half the woman she is.
