Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Harpst.
Ashley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an athlete and I wanted to learn more about nutrition so I decided to become a Registered Dietitian. I completed my undergraduate degree in Food and Nutrition at San Diego State University and my Dietetic Internship at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
After I passed the Registered Dietitian’s Exam, I opened my private practice to help athletes optimize their performance for their sport. I also help busy professionals lose and a healthy, maintain weight.
Has it been a smooth road?
My advice for other young women who are just starting their journey is to join professional groups related to your career, get involved in volunteer work that is not related to your profession, and ask other professionals in your career for help.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I specialize in sports nutrition for athletes and weight loss for busy professionals. My goal is to help my clients fuel their bodies for fitness and improve their mental health. I help athletes optimize their performance and I also work with athletes who are dealing with anxiety, depression, and diabetes. Lastly, I help my clients achieve a healthy weight without stress and restrictions.
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Look for mentors in professional groups related to your career and volunteer for organizations that are not related to your career. This has worked well for me.
