So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been interested in makeup. When I was younger, I would do all of my friend’s makeup for our high school dances and cheer competitions. As I got older, I got asked to do makeup for my friend’s weddings and word spread that I was the “makeup girl” and I started getting a lot of calls to do makeup for friends of friends and luckily, I kept getting referrals and it was a natural progression into trying to make doing what I love, into a career. I was getting really busy with booking brides and I have now expanded my team and have hired very talented makeup artists and hairstylists. We specialize in weddings and events and travel to our clients. We strive to make our brides lives as easy as possible, by coming to them and providing them with the highest quality makeup and hair products on the market. We love for our clients to look and feel their best on their most special day by enhancing their natural features. I feel so honored anytime anyone reaches out and is interested in our services. I was a bride once and know how hard it can be to find the perfect vendor and therefore, I am appreciative of every client we have!
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say my biggest struggle is finding a way to set my business apart from all the others. There is A LOT of competition out there. My biggest piece of advice to anyone starting out is to not be afraid to put yourself out there, Make those uncomfortable phone calls, ask if venues are looking to add new vendors to their list. It can be time-consuming but it is so worth it, in the end. I spent a lot of time in the beginning, looking for new ways to make connections with other wedding professionals and it has made all the difference.

Beautiful Day by Beka’s Glam team is an on-site team of hairstylists and makeup artist who specialize in weddings. I would say that our team definitely attracts the bride who is wanting a softer look and wants to look like the best version of themselves on their wedding day. We were recently awarded The Knot “Best of Weddings for 2018.” and I am so proud of that award. I am always looking for ways to get our name out there and set my team apart from others. I have recently started making YouTube videos where I use products from my makeup kit so that future clients know what to expect if they book with us or for anyone who is looking for makeup tips and tricks. I have also started incorporating more videos on my Instagram to show people that what they are seeing is unedited and without a filter. Yes – your skin can really look that beautiful from traditional makeup application!
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I love watching YouTube tutorials on makeup. To be a successful makeup artist or hairstylist, it is important to be up to date on the latest trends as well as continuing to practice our art.
